Samsung UN55NU7300F Curved TV. Half side backlight out. Fixed by just removing the rear snap cover

TV was fixed just after removing Samsung's rear snap cover.

This curved TV's construction is rather interesting. When the snapped on back is removed, rest of the TV will relax the curvature. Top of LCD panel is loose as it wants to straighten out against the slightly curved bezel. Snapped back provide most of the curvature shape. So just simple disassembly of rear cover will allow the rest of the TV frame to relax its curvature. Thats probably what fixed it but no idea which connection. 4x LEDs are edge lit.

Maybe PSU->backlight connector didn't have a good contact? Removed the PSU and reinstalled it so the backlight connection got fresh new scrap of metal. Also tested the 4x backlight channels. All same at 107v.

Wonder if people see similar when repairing curved Samsungs.

Looks like the reason to the "just dis/reconnect" PSU repair is due to the the PSU backlight connector fingers making poor contact over time (at least for curved TVs) See link

After reassemble the TV, also made a bunch of random clicking and popping noise. Tried adding electrical tape to every screwless rear cover contact surface and didn't help. What fixed it was the following

Can't snap on the screwless rear panel with curved TV facing the flat ground as TV will flex and not all rear cover snap fingers will grab onto each wire properly. Placing something against the LCD glass to maintain curvature seems too dangerous. Best way I found was

• First take note where the non perimeter snaps are. Usually one near the main board. Need to remember to press and snap in this area later.
• Stand the TV vertically with the top edge of the TV on the ground. This will maintain curvature during rear cover reassembly.
• Insert the screwless rear panel and snap in the bottom edge of the TV (where the IR sensor and speaker holes are) first. Then gradually work both side edges to snap in the clips to the wires on both sides
• Assemble the stand
• Flip the TV over and sit it on the stands and snap in the clips along the top edge wires
• Go around the perimeter to make sure all snaps are snapped in.

I guess if the curvature is changed/flexed while snapping in the rear cover. The snaps could miss clipping in the wire and probably tension against the wire and make clicking and popping noises as the chassis flex with LED thermal cycling.

Also if screwless rear panel was removed with Samsung's method, the snap metal wires will be bent and need to be bent straight. A better way to remove the rear is like this ( link )
