Re: Vizio E701i-A3 no Picture
with my 100Mhz oscilloscope. LVDS = Low Voltage Differential Signal. Remember the signal is small, but you can see the changes on the oscilloscope, when you have the TV on some channel and turn on and off the menu all the time, while poking into the LVDS connector.Comment

Re: Vizio E701i-A3 no Picture
I had one. Had backlight and sound but screen was light blue. Vizio had a recall on the set with certain Serial numbers and they extended the warranty to two years. The set I had was not in that range of numbers but the gave the customer a new 70" setComment

Re: Vizio E701i-A3 no Picture
I also have a Vizio E701i-a3 that had the picture go out on it. Called Vizio and they gave me the same line that there was nothing they can do and that I should shell out more money on a new Vizio TV. The sound and backlight are still working so I attempted the repair and bought a replacement T-Con board gambling that was the probelm. Just installed the new one today and the picture was working! Unfortunately that lasted for only a few minutes before the picture faded out again and back to where I started. Any idea what would be frying the T-Con boards?Comment

Re: Vizio E701i-A3 no Picture
Hello everyone.
So I picked up an e701i-a3 with sound but no pic. Got a replacement T-Con and it work for a couple of mins before going right back to blank screen no sound. Now I'm wondering if it's a bad panel blowing the T-Con or I got another T-Con in the defective range.
Pretty sure the eBay seller of the T-Con is just selling NOS boards that may have been made with the defective components. This was a ZH T-Con. Should I forget it and chalk it up to a bad panel?Comment

Re: Vizio E701i-A3 no Picture
I checked last night and they were out of repair kits. Additionally, it doesn't seem like the issue is with the T-Con board but rather something that is killing these boards since it worked for a few minutes.
Were you able to find a solution for the E601i-a3's?

Re: Vizio E701i-A3 no Picture
Well I have been following this thread closely I also obtained this model TV. The symptoms are sound back light no picture. I found no 3.3 volt or 1.0 volt on the tcon board. It tries to come up upon start up but then dies off quickly. This is with or without the panel ribbon cables connected to the tcon board. So I found a supplier on eBay that says that he has a brand new t-con board never used and I purchased it put it in today without connecting the panel and I had no 1.0 or 3.3v still. And of course it does not provide an image. So my philosophy is a bad batch of t-con boards and I'm understanding the EEPROM on the t-con board is the culprit. I'm suspecting that this board probably had an issue and was removed from someone thinking it was a bad panel. There seems to be an awfully lot of these boards failing with this model TV. Of course the screen is made by sharp. I have had nothing but good luck with Sharp LCD panels so I highly doubt the panel is suspest.

Re: Vizio E701i-A3 no Picture
No, I think mine was due to a defective panel, since all my voltage was fine on my Tcon board. This model TV has a known issue with the Tcon/panel issue. You might try to get the correct Tcon and see if it works for you.Comment

Re: Vizio E701i-A3 no Picture
I picked up the tcon with the proper ZH abbreviation on the end. the supplier swears up and down that the tcon board was brand new never used directly from vizio or sharp. Like I said right out of the box it had no low voltages to the core CPUDid I leave the soldering iron on?Comment

Hi,
I have a VIZIO E70-E3.
Symptoms: Black screen, no picture, but LED backlights are working.
I probed the power board and voltages are as listed on the board.
Main board appears fine, too.
I believe the problem is either a bad T-CON board, or connection to LCD, or bad LCD.
There are two separate ribbon cables feeding the LCD.
If both are connected, the screen is black.
If only the ribbon cable that feeds the right side of the screen (when viewed from the front) is disconnected, the left side of the screen shows picture and... -
by iglitareHi,
i want to repair a Sony KD-75XF9005 TV that initially only showed a grey picture.
Backlight seems to work, Sound (Setup menu after reset) works.
If i dissconnect the left FFC cable from TCON to panel i have half a screen on the right. If left cable is connected always only the grey screen.
Interchanged the cables, its always only the right side that is working. Always grey if left side is connected.
With my small knowledge i would think at least the cables are good.
Can this happen because of a bad tcon board?
Or is it always a bad/shorted... -
by ggil44Hi I inherited a Vizio M65-E0 that isn't working. It must have been dropped on the corner because I found that the infrared circuit had a capacitor with one end broken off of the board and some green corrosion around the plug to the main board. I re-soldered the capacitor and cleaned the corrosion well and tried turning the M65-E0 on and I was successful. My problem is that while the back lights come on and appear to perform local dimming there is no picture or sound. It kind of looks like you are looking at the TV through a very dense fog, where changing the input on the remote will change bright...

by maricmHI all,
hope someone point to the possible issue before I start buying replacement parts.
Tv starts normal and responds to remote fine, PSU voltages mesured fine 19v was 18.9V under load and 19V with main board disconnected.
Backlight stays on all the time,
Sound works fine.
screen keeps changing form black to full picture in about 1sec intervals.
Picture looks fine with no visible artifacts.
I have disconnected backlights and flashlight test confirmed that picture is still doing the same.

by jason123Hello,
Help is much appreciated as I don't have any experience with this model TV.
Picked it up and it was smoking in the back when powered.
Open opening the LED Driver board was charred (see last photo.)
I noticed some blown caps on the Power board as well.
Replaced the LED driver board, and bad caps on Power supply.
Voltages on CN301 (upper power supply connector to LED driver board)
X000017 - All 24.39V
GND - 0.001
OD - 0.015
VSNS - 0.009 (does that imply bad backlight or bad LED Driver?)
