Sharp lc-70le660u....is it a tab issue?
I haven't cracked it open yet. Does this look like a tab bonding issue?...

Panasonic TC-P58vt25 plasma, buzzing and dark screen
This was a dumpster rescue in nice condition, but I have no knowledge of it's history. When I plugged it up I could hear relays snap; when I turned it on, I saw a bright point of light in the middle of the screen, then the screen quickly went dark. It then started the typical 7 blink pattern. I pulled the buffer boards and tested them, finding one buffer board shorted. I jumped the pins on SC50, and got a solid red light but the screen was dark. Green LEDs lit up and stayed steady on the SS and SC boards, but a loud buzzing came from the area of the D board....(It is sort of hard to pin down the...

Re: Vizio E701i-A3
I saw this posted elsewhere; the led's themselves may be bad.
"So, specifically for you, if his panel is half lit, it's probably a bad LED string, and no problem with the panel. You should be able to swap panels (CAREFULLY!!!), and be good to go. Try to get a pic of his screen in the ON state. If there is a straight line down the middle, and half works and half doesn't, he might have connections issues with the panel and T-con. If there is a dark triangle at the bottom of the screen (about two feet long at bottom, peak of dark triangle about a foot...Last edited by GoneGault; 08-30-2015, 05:16 PM.

Schwabee, I wonder the same thing. Did you find any sort of service manual for the TV?

Asus M2N61-AX or HP Acacia-GL6E fix
It is an older MB, but I saved it from the dumpster. The computer would not start. The MB had an obvious bulged cap right below the s/n label. I replaced it and the computer fired right up....

When tore the monitor down I found arching from a broken tube. I have never replace any tubes; what length should I buy?...

HP W2338H flickering and buzzing
I picked this monitor up hoping to repair it; when it comes on, it has a buzzing sound that gradually goes a way. The image looks good at first, then the lower half of the image gets darker and starts flickering. I have run it for some time now, and the monitor has not gone dark, and the image is still bright enough to read. I haven't opened it yet, and hoped to get a prelim 'scouting report' from the members here....

Re: Dead Dell All-In-One PS
I replaced the main fuse; it immediately blew again. I then used a fuse with a higher amperage and it also blew.

Budm, you are right...the main fuse is blown. I have order replacements and will report results when they arrive.

Budm, if the bridge rectifier is in red in this picture, the two inside pins have 0 voltage....

Dead Dell All-In-One PS
I have a Dell All-In-One with no signs of life. I have 120ac coming into the power supply, with no dc volts coming out. It has a proprietary 18pin atx connection, and a replacement ps costs more than the computer is worth. I see no obvious bloated caps or burn spots on the power supply board. Space is tight and power supply appears to be harder than average to work on. Output voltages are marked on the power supply board.
Question: as long as I match up the voltages and jerry-rig a connector, can I use a regular atx power supply to test the computer?
2nd Question: I have repaired...

ACER AL1916, no picture, green light, bad caps?
My latest find at the recycle center is an ACER al1916. No picture, and a blinking green power light gave me a pretty good idea it was bad caps. Using BudM's excellent pictures and his list of caps needing to be replaced, I opened it up and put it back in service. (Thanks Bud!)

Re: Toshiba Satellite L455D-S5976 no display
I have now opened the beast and removed the motherboard. When plugged up, the 'plugged up' light comes on, when powered on, the 'power on' light comes on but it has no video output. I include a motherboard schematic and pictures of the mb. I hope someone will give me some test ideas or repair suggestions. Thanks!...

Re: Gateway FPB1730--please help with an overview
Whew, Bud....that was a mouth full! I am adding a picture of the last connection which I am identifying (correctly or incorrectly) as the Tcon board. That is where the cable from connection E goes. In this situation, is the inverter board combined with the power board (#3)?...

Gateway FPB1730--please help with an overview
I have actually been able to fix some monitors and TV's with the generous help of people on this forum. I have a problem with another monitor, but I am more interested in increasing my tiny base of understanding. Referring to the picture, is this how the process works to turn on the monitor?
On/off switch on board 1 sends an 'on' signal thru connection A
Logic (or main) board 2 receives the 'on' signal thru connection B
Logic (or main) board 2 sends the 'on' signal to power board 3 thru connection C
Power board 3 receives the 'on' signal thru connection D
Power...

Re: Dell E248WFPb lots of vertical lines
I pulled and checked all the caps on the small board that connects to the main board; all were good. When soldered back in, the same problem persists.
While replacing caps on the main board, I did notice a discoloration around D702 (picture); I don't know if it is significant and I don't know how to check it. Any help would be appreciated....
