Re: T-CON Check Spreadsheet
Flickering/double images and horizontal lines are panel problems but may be repaired with a workaround using the tape cutoff method.

Re: T-CON Check Spreadsheet
Excel isn't hard, it's just equations and overly-complicated IF-equations (just click any cell to view the formula!) I did it in openoffice because I don't have a copy of Excel.
The voltage has to increase OR decrease, in other words, differential voltage from point to point, the sign of the number needs to stay the same. Also, the symmetry test mirrors the voltages around VCOM (AVDD/2 or mid point average of gamma voltages) and sees if they match up. The symmetry test is an additional test, both should be done. It's a lot harder to do in your head. If either of these fail, the result is a guaranteed fail.
Note -- the Detailed Results tab is more of an internal debug tab -- you should look at Summary for overall conclusion.
New version coming soon with improvements and bug fixes.
INPUT 12.47V
VGH 30.34V
VGL -9.50V
AVDD 16.30V
VCOM 6.90V

Re: T-CON Check Spreadsheet
Thanks for this spreadsheet! I am diagnosing a blank screen issue on a Sony KLV-46W400A and these are my test values:
VCOM_D 10.9
VCOMG2L 6.4
VCOMG1 6.2
VON 20.8
VOFF -7.5
VMGA1 15.1
VMGA2 15.1
VMGA3 15.1
VMGA4 15.1
VMGA5 15.1
VMGA6 15.1
VMGA7 15.1
VMGA8 15.1
VMGA9 15.1
VMGA10 0
VMGA11 0
VMGA12 0
VMGA13 0
VMGA14 0
VMGA15 0
VMGA16 0
VMGA17 0
VMGA18 0
It's weird that VGMA #1-9 puts out the correct voltage but VMGA #10 - 18 puts out 0 volts. I'm guessing this is a definitive result that my T-Con board is bad?Attached FilesLeave a comment:

Question? Is there a generic way to find these test points, particularly VGMAn?

Re: T-CON Check Spreadsheet
I hope I'm not interrupting this thread, but I want to thank tom66 for all that he has revealed about AS15 ICs. It has been extremely helpful to me. I was just given a Samsung LA40B650 with a solarized picture (both picture and menu affected). Shopjimmy's videos assured me that I needed to look at the T-Con, and with tom66's posts I went straight to the AS15-U. It got warm after a couple of minutes running, though I could hold my finger on it without pain. So I checked the VGMA test points:
VG1 15.54
VG2 15.19
VG4 12.88
VG6 10.99
VG8 10.26
VG10 7.93
VG11 7.80
VG12 7.08
VG13 6.87
VG15 5.87
VG17 11.92
VG19 2.93
VG21 0.70
VG22 0.41
Based on tom66's posts, I mentally connected the warm AS15-U, and the very odd voltage on VG17, and decided I needed a new AS15-U. Unfortunately fate conspired against me - I then bought a heat gun on ebay, and when it arrived found it was defective. Seller would not give a refund until I posted it back to China for evaluation, so while I was waiting I bought a new T-Con board and fitted it. Great picture, no solarization. So, please chalk up one more win for tom66's posts.
If I eventually get the ebay situation sorted out I'll get a heat gun that works and replace the AS15-U on the original T-Con board - but this forum has already made it easy to repair what was previously a throw-away TV. Thanks everyone.Leave a comment:

Re: T-CON Check Spreadsheet
Last "used" (supposedly tested by seller) t-con board I tired I did exactly this (no panel connections) and AS15 was screaming hot from the get-go (immediately after power on), and bad voltage readings too. Just want to make sure nothing coming through the LVDC could be taking out the t-con boards.Leave a comment:

Re: T-CON Check Spreadsheet
Yes, it is the bad panel that takes out the AS15.
I took the T-CON board out and replace the IC again but install the T-CON on anther SAMSUNG same model and panel without any problem, so now I have spare power supply, T-CON, and Main board for the next repair works.Last edited by budm; 03-05-2016, 07:26 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: T-CON Check Spreadsheet
I just replaced the burnt out AS15 on the T-CON board on 46" SAMSUNG, power it up without the ribbon cables between the LCD panel and the T-CON, no heat no smoke, unplug the power and connect all the ribbon cables, applied the power and turned on the TV, in less than a minute the IC smoked!Leave a comment:

Re: T-CON Check Spreadsheet
Tom66, your spreadsheet tool is great! Very helpful!
I'm sorry for tagging onto your thread, but I thought that's what I was supposed to do. Although I've been lurking on badcaps for over 5 years I wasn't allowed to start a new thread. Guess I jumped through the right hoops, now little status deal says I can. Still don't have edit/delete privileges so I can't remove.
Guessing that starting a new thread now with my issues would be wrong, so I hope the mods will see this and advise?Leave a comment:

Re: T-CON Check Spreadsheet
There is a very simple way to test this chip, leave the set on for 10 mins and if the chips faulty it will be hot to touch, it should run stone cold .Leave a comment:

Re: T-CON Check Spreadsheet
I am surprised that it did not have one on the AS15.
Does the IC too hot to touch by fingers?Leave a comment:

by HakuuHi There,
This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.
After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

by maxim2511My Oled Tv is 55inch tv, 3 days ago I notice that middle of the screen is getting warmer and on picture I have ghosting, missing red color. Color red was still displaying, but it was not so strong as corners of the screen and watching some movies makes me angry.
Then I get an idea to take it apart and clean boards from dust.
In side of Tv was not so bad, I take compressed air in can, and gently blow up.
Also I was thinking to styrofoam sponge to isolate power board from screen that the middle of the screen will not worm so much. Because Led on screen when gets higher... -
by alltvrepairsHi,
i have a 65 Panasonic TX-65HX710E using vestel 17MB170 main and Lg tcon.
Few drops of water fell probably near COF and have no display. Tried removing tabs but no.part of display present as if tcon fuse open. However 12v is present and tcon can be felt warm enough that supplies are present. Backlight and sound ok.
Anyone knows if this TCon 6870c-0805A has any special test pins for rgb test?

Has already been detected without any kind of problem, but the only to read them is to uncheck every time the "Check ID " option. After that i can read it erase it and re-program it only to get another error at then end saying that can not verify the programing went well so i have program failed.
