Re: A LED lifetime tester
The problem with incandescent bulbs in the filament resistance is much lower when cold, if you were to make a circuit with a triac that switches the bulb when the mains AC cycle is at zero your bulb would last much longer ,also modern bulbs are no longer gas filled, they are evacuated to save on cost.
A war time coiled carbon filament would last you much longer !...

Re: CB Radio microphones
500MW ? we power mad running huge linear amps , here is my old patch lead with an double A battery for comparison, the cable is RG8 and somewhere but I cant just lay my hands on it ,I have a newspaper cutting of the first person in my town to be busted for running a linear amp as he lived in a block of flats and when on TX it wiped everybody's TV reception out, the fine was something like £100 which in today's money would be perhaps worth £1,000 ....

Re: CB Radio microphones
This post takes me back to the summer of 1979 when I was just 15 , here in the UK some truck driver brought a load of CB radios over from the states and before you knew it all the UK had gone CB radio crazy, in the UK it was of course illegal to transmit on the 27Mhz AM and SSB and thats what made it so exciting doing something illegal, but by the early 1980 we were in the midst of some sort of sunspot and and radio waves , Skip, were coming over to the UK from the states pushing close on S9 so it was easier to hear someone in the states than it was the...Last edited by michael dranfield; 12-07-2016, 07:41 AM.

Re: Anyone have ERSA Product Experience?
If money is no object get one of these, as there made in the states you should be able to get a better price over there.
I have ERSA irons as well but I prefer the balance of the pace to the ERSA....Last edited by michael dranfield; 11-18-2016, 06:21 AM.

Re: VES315 With 9324 Hours !
Well at least some remembers me then !
I did write for Television magazine from 1985 when I opened my first shop right up to the day they went bust , in fact I knew the editor and he told me they were heading for bankruptcy and could not afford to pay me any longer so we did a deal and I accepted free advertizing space in the magazine for a few months before they went bust.
Vestel has been my favorite set for repair since they started in the 1990 s, simply because they used all phillips/mullard components...

Re: LED Light strip failure , How to reduce service time !!
AS far as I am concerned this thread is over,Tom66 has made it quite clear in the private message he sent me that's is quite all right to be abused by another member as long as you don't return the abuse and my contribution to this group is no longer needed.

Re: LED Light strip failure , How to reduce service time !!
I have no need to remove the item because Flocko himself has bought the lot , but unfortunatley for Mr flocko I added him to my blocked bidders list before I listed them and he has only gone and bought them on another account registered to the same address and postcode , so I am going to give him a couple of hours to apologize and put an end to this now or I am going to report him to e bay for using another account to in order to override my blocked bidders list and e bay will close both of his accounts,...

Re: LED Light strip failure , How to reduce service time !!
Hey mr flocko , check out this item number 231869675737.
same as yours but just £3.00 as promised , and by the way I looked at all your other items and theres nothing there that I cant copy for much less money, apart from the infertile eggs you buy at Tesco and the duff boards you sell and get bad feedback for .
As for me been a monster I can be anything you want me to be , just let me know if you want me to copy any of your other items ??????? and sell them for less.

Re: How to convert an old Sky Digital Box into a colour bar generator
Correct, they dropped filling in a form a couple of years ago and now just issue a nasty letter to every address who does not have a TV licence based on the assumption everyone in the country must have a TV set,I have another house I rent out and it stood empty for a while and in that time they sent 14 letters, each one more nasty and threatening than the last one .In the end I asked them if they would like to take to court over the matter but unfortunately I never heard anything from them ....

Re: How to convert an old Sky Digital Box into a colour bar generator
Not sure how they detect these days but in CRT days they could pick up the 4.433619 Mhz subcarrier radiation , years ago when I use to sell new TV sets we had to fill in a book with customers names and addresses effectively shopping the customer who purchased a new TV and every so often we would have a visit from a licencing officer to make sure we were doing everything correctly and he said exatcley what you just said, they have no legal power of entry and if they knocked on a door and the door was not answered...
