So, am I correct in assuming that if I do not connect up the ribbon cables (from t-con to panel) I will not damage a t-con board, if I indeed have a bad panel?
Last "used" (supposedly tested by seller) t-con board I tired I did exactly this (no panel connections) and AS15 was screaming hot from the get-go (immediately after power on), and bad voltage readings too. Just want to make sure nothing coming through the LVDC could be taking out the t-con boards....

I'm sorry for tagging onto your thread, but I thought that's what I was supposed to do. Although I've been lurking on badcaps for over 5 years I wasn't allowed to start a new thread. Guess I jumped through the right hoops, now little status deal says I can. Still don't have edit/delete privileges so I can't remove.

oops, I should have stated that the washed out screen is also on the menu OSD too. And I've let it sit for days, unplugged, held down on button when it was off, yadda, yadda. Did the "reset" from within the menu a few times too. nada, nothing.
also inspected the mainboard and power supply for any obvious bad caps. There are two really big caps under a big heat sink on the PS that looked a tiny bit suspect, tops ever so slightly raised. It's really hard to take a picture of them, but when compared to another pic of the same PS...Leave a comment:
