BETWEEN pins, black on black highlighted, red on red highlighted on the buffer board connector.
3-4 jumper, take it off for now.

Yes, that's what I meant. Now, try with buffer connectors removed.

That reading is unexpected, and very odd. Not sure what to make of it.

Please check the voltage across those red capacitors I highlighted previously.

I think part of your Y-Main is defective, can you see any point for testing voltages at -Vscan/-Vsc or Vsch? I cannot see them on photos.

Hmm, both VSCAN and VSCH are OK. I could not see those on pictures before, makes it much easier!

With those voltages you SHOULD have screen glow, even if it's really faint.

This leads to only a few possibilities:
                            - bad panel (cracked glass on outer edge or middle; check carefully)
                            - bad buffer board
                            - partially functional control board (unlikely)

You would need an oscilloscope to see if the Y-main waveforms are all correct. But so far, it appears Y-main is working.

You unfortunately need a scope to test the buffers. Also, the glass could be cracked under the frame, so you might want to try lifting that off to double check.

You could also try checking the voltage across the red caps on the X-main board to see if that's functioning properly, just in case.

Hmm, the X- and Y-main voltages should match very closely, but a small offset could be acceptable. There's not much else to suggest other than to replace boards one at a time, if you can't get hold of a scope to check the waveforms.

You work in an engineering firm? They probably have a scope you can borrow for the night (my boss has frequently allowed me to borrow meters when away from my lab) - and you could use that on the Samsung LED TV too, and check if main board sending right signals to panel.

Get a 10X probe too, if you can, and prefer a digital scope over analog, though both can be used.

I love working on plasma TVs.
Its been a while but I was lucky enough to find 2 this week.

The TV powers on and stays on but no picture. Havent checked for sound yet.
No bulging caps although the insides are pretty dusty and the boards are discolored from many years of high heat.
                                            Will start troubleshooting tonight.

                                            Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
                                            - sound and backlight, but no picture
                                            - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
                                            - it keeps rebooting
                                            - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                                            - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                                            - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

                                            - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

Looking for some help please. Samsung UN75RU800DFXZA rebooting, no picture, clicks

TV was working fine and then just shutdown one day. It will not turn back on. I get a backlight for a little while, then it just clicks and won't fully boot.

I took off the back panel and did the basic troubleshooting and it seems like it's a panel issue.

The backlight will stay on if I disconnect either of the ribbon cables going to the panel. I've watched this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77tymvTJDxo) and am wondering if this could be the issue, just a bad cap on the panel.

                                            Any assistance is appreciated.

This was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.

                                            Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode...

                                            Hello all,

This is my first post, but long term lurker on the form learning as much as possible about these TV's. I was given this TV as due to a power outage of constant On/off of power to TV. The TV originally would just click on and off (Typical Reboot Cycle). I opened the back of the TV, and troubleshooted by taking the 96 pin LVDS off one at a time to see if I had a picture on either side. I finally fixed the reboot cycle by finding the error on the left side of the screen off connector CN 1301, and the TV would stay on. Further troubleshooting led me to the driver boards where...
