OK, it looks like we've been chasing a wild goose. I should have asked you for that measurement before.
Check the pin 23 inverter on/off is staying HIGH from main board (connector going between main & power.)

That doesn't seem right -- it's probably the one right next to it. If it's a double row connector, maybe the one above it. See page #1 of schematic for the pin diagram.

tried again the backlight comes on when you first turn the tv on but after 5 mins it goes off again, i have to short PCI801 to get the backlight on again all voltages from the psu to main board seem steady even when the backlight switches off
So a brief short across PCI801S gets the backlight going, but what about a permanent short?

no tom a permanent short will not work tried that when i first turned on the tv no backlight had to remove the wire then the backlight comes on,then when it goes off i just touch PCI801S to get it going again
If you repeat the reset does it last again? Could be a coincidence.

I've got another idea but will have to wait for tomorrow when I am more awake. Some error detect is firing. UVLO is one of them but there is also a few others that can cause this issue.

Just a thought before you go diving in checking things, have you inspected for cold joints and loose connectors?
