My nephew's tv (37CV510U) quit so I said I would look at it. The green power light will come on, but no picture. I checked the power supply output voltages and they are all fine.
I did a visual inspection of the other boards and found on the inverter board (PPW-EE37VT-0 Rev 2) the two caps(680 uf) were bulged.
Further inspection shows a damaged controller chip (BD9897FS-E2). The burnt spot is on pin 26 which the data sheet says in volts input.
That trace goes over to R15 which is labeled "103". I read the value of the resistor (soldered on) to be 8.7 ohm. I found another resistor on the board with "103" on top and it read .455 ohm (also soldered in). Do they have to be removed to read correctly?
I researched the controller chip (BD9897FS-E2) and found that normal suppliers do not have anything in stock and minimum order was 2500 or so. Is there a cross reference for this chip?
Thanks,
Steve
