Hello all! I have just bought Elitebook 840 G8 i7 11th gen. It has a Bios Admin password as far as I was able to see trying to F10. For the rest is OK, boots to windows, acts normally.
Yet I want to be able to change the OS installed (win11) with Linux but can't access the BIOS....
Have allready desoldered and read the Bios and EC chips.
I need the help of some knowledgeable folks for unlocking the BIOS!
Thanks in advance!!!

I think I'm talking rubbish...but while I'm waiting for an 840 G8 to arrive with a bios password to unlock, I'll try to do my best! Sorry if I asked a stupid question. If I understand, do you need a dump of both the BIOS and the EC?Comment

Thanks for your kind reply. I read the discussion from the beginning, especially post #9, and studied the original files with the patched ones. Furthermore, I also tried to patch some BIOS present here and make a comparison. I must say that I achieved an excellent result by comparing my patched files and yours do not present any difference. It still remains unclear to me why other values are also moved, while there is one that is not touched as in post #9. For me it's a professional deformation, I like to understand why, it's not enough for me to have someone do it for me. Thank you all for the valuable information on this forum and sorry for my bad English.Comment

@hoaca388
I have read through the posts, and unfortunately, it's still a little unclear. Do I need to purchase a programmer to remove/reveal the bios password, or are there files you provide to help identify or remove the password? I see people posting files, but how are they getting them if the BIOS are locked. If I do need to purchase a programmer, is there one you recommend where I don't have to remove the bios chip?Comment

I'm using TONGFANG "GM7TG7P" model laptop for over 3 years and i'm entering the same bios administrator password everyday. My laptop has Aptio BIOS (American Megatrends, AMI).

I'm trying to reset my bios without success.
I tried :

by NopslideHello everyone, I come here to tell you my problem regarding the power-on password. It is not a bios reset demand, and i can't have any access to windows. This is the bios and power-on password that is blocking all other things.
My Omen 15-dh0052nf purchased second-hand was configured with the bios password upon purchase (very simple password :P ).
Having decided to sell it in order to get something more powerful, I reset all BIOS settings and set a blank administrator password. But the power-on password cannot be changed to a blank one so I let the actual password set....-

by Habble7The Samsung S49CG934SU monitor does not power on - no LED indicator activity and no response to power button. However, when 21V power is connected, it immediately draws 0.8A of current with no display output. The motherboard processor gets warm, and there is continuous reading activity from the W25Q128BV BIOS chip.
Suspected Cause:
I suspect the BIOS may have been corrupted during a power interruption while updating the firmware. The official website provides firmware updates, but they can only be installed via USB flash drive.
