I just wanted to say thanks, as in the end this is indeed what I had to do. I had quite the journey with mine though. For a start, the shorting process on an X1C6 is pretty timing sensitive, so it took many attempts. Then once I was able to reset the passwords, I got an error relating to the serial number having been cleared. I got around that using the LenovoUOne tool available somewhere on github. After that, my laptop went into a reboot cycling with the dreaded "Configuration Changed" message. I couldn't get into the BIOS and couldn't flash a new BIOS using a bootable USB stick. Eventually, I was able to use the LenovoUOne bootable USB to get into the BIOS and turned off "secure boot" and reset the keys to factory defaults. After this, everything worked, I shoved a new NVME in and have loaded Windows.

I've seen other people having some of the problems I mention above, so hopefully this helps them a bit.

It is working nice on T470S. But i noticed a few detils. 1-motherboard on T470s has 8 gb ddr4 mounted on it and if we taking out non-fixed module, we can test without it. 2-python must be version above 3 and installed with checked "path..." 3-it would be good if bios.bin file be placed in the same folder as autopatcher.exe file. 4-when we programmed bios chip with pached file, first run of laptop maybe will late. It will be start emidietly when you connect source of power (charger or battery). Be patient and dont panic. Several times it will restart himself.

            Hey,

So i've tried to do the patch on my T480 and followed THIS tutorial. But once I applied the Patch to the EEPROM, the Laptop won't boot and would only play this annoying melody. I also didn't fry the Chip, cause I now applied the old dump onto the chip and everything is back to normal. I put my dump files in the attachment, both old and patched. I'd really REALLY appreciate some help on that!!!! )))

Patching was successful (both steps) or only a very fast command screen appeared?

Nothing appeared. After I loaded the Patch it just startet and stayed in Black Screen until a melody started.

I mean when you dragged you bios dump on python file to get patched.
You saw a command screen performing two steps or nothing?

Then wait for someone to fix it, no big problem.

Hello to all the geniuses out there

I need some help with a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga X1 Gen 1.

I can't find the serial number on it.

The bios is corrupted i think, when i start it's just a black screen and not caps lock light or anything.

Can anyone fix the bios dump for me so i can reprogram it?

                          Thanks!

                            Hello
                            Have you tried cmos reset?
Remove power adapter, disconnect main battery, disconnect cmos battery and hold power button for 30 seconds, then connect power adapter and wait 3 minutes.

Yes. I have tried that. Didn’t work.

I found someone’s dump on here and tried that and that finally came up with Lenovo logo and tells me to press F1 but when I do nothing happens. Says press enter and I press that and nothing happens. I need my bios dump fixed because from what I read I have to have the original dump back on in order for it to work? But my dump is messed up. Must have done a bios update and crashed mid update. Bricked bios maybe? Any solution?

Where would it be located? There’s no sticker with serial number on it. Can’t figure out where it is on the board either.

                                    Try other dumps...
The DMI data is stored in EC chip so a clean ME and new BIOS will do the job.
BTW your posted dump serial and type (Serial R90ML8P7 and model 20FRS2KG00) does not match the picture...

                                            ASUS TP500LA BIOS request/repair/merge?
                                            by jbonavita
Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
                                            Some issues
                                            A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

                                            Things I tried

1- Update / clear ME: Took the non working bios, made a backup, and did this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...theory/trouble...

Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...

                                            Hello,

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....

                                            Hi everyone,

I have been doing hardware repair as a hobby for some years now and recently decided to learn about repairing laptops as a fun challenge.

I managed to get my hands on a "HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2523nd" notebook that only shows a white power LED and doesnt respond to anything.

After initial testing I concluded the bios seems to be corrupted since all voltages are normal and there are no shorts. HP has a feature for a bios restore from USB with winkey+B for this model. This did not work.

I have desoldered the bios chip (GigaDevice...
