You're kidding right?
G5 series are Sure Start equipped machines, so either MPM mode must be enabled in the main bios, or nvram section of the EC chip must be edited. Editing only usercred section on main dump will not be enough for sure.
All G5 line are HP Sure Start equipped (HP Sure Start Gen4 if they are shipped with Intel 8th generation processor onboard), otherwise HP Sure Start Gen3 (7th gen Intel onboard). So again - there's no way to remove the password on these with simple usercred section editing. I've sent the edited MPM enabled dump to the guy, that's why the problem was solved.
This is also true for the case when the HP BCU shows an attachment?
Hi.
There is an HP EliteBook 840 G5 with a BIOS password. There is also a programmer, an adapter and a chip. 3.3V is set on the programmer, everything works - it was read / erased / written / checked several times. I'm waiting for another chip and a probe (yes, I read on the forum that it's better to solder the chip). Perhaps important HP BCU considered:
Sure Start BIOS Settings Protection
*disable
enable
Have questions:
1. The status of computrace is not yet known. Suppose it is active, in which case which of the dumps needs to be modified by the BIOS or/and EC ?
- BIOS HPunloker + BIOS HxD (computrace 3F --> 3C)
- BIOS HxD (computrace 3F --> 3C) + EC RCUnloker
- EC RCUnloker + BIOS security reset on first boot
...
2. If I use a probe, then turn off all the power or leave something connected in a special way? RethoricalCheese, can you explain the nuances for the HP EliteBook
3. Do I need to reinstall the operating system after the modification?
Thank you.
p.s. please forgive me for detailed questions, but I don't want to get a non-working device and have backups on original chips

BIOS HPunloker + BIOS HxD (computrace 3F -> 3C)
BIOS security reset on first boot
Notebook displays "Protected by HP Sure Start" under the HP logo while booting.
After loading the operating system, the BCU shows options:
Sure Start BIOS Settings Protection
*disable
enable
HP Sure Run Current State
Inactive
Sure Start Secure Boot Keys Protection
Disable
*Enable
SureStart Production Mode
Disable
*Enable
After modifying the main BIOS on the first boot, will it be possible to enter the BIOS to reset the security?
And yet, there is no identifier in AbtState, but Asset Tracking Number = Serial Number.
Do I need BIOS HxD (3F --> 3C) in this case or not?

Hi all! Probe delivered. But the situation is bad. All 5 readings gave different results.
The situation by region is in the attachment.
"+" - match
"-" - difference
Is the 3rd reading correct? For flashing, the chip will be soldered.
