    P5PE-VM question ?

    Guys,

I got P5PE-VM....I put the CPU and memory in it,
I can turn it on but nothing is happened, no beep at all and
POST code on diagnostic = 00, I have replaced the CPU with another CPU which is working on another board, still the same issue...

    How do you reckon ?

              I'm thinking uploading :
              http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...316.1472338911
              Straight to the BIOS chip...
              I have G540 flash programmer...

*.rom is equal to *.bin or *.hex ? or I must use a special software from asus ?
                AFUDOS.exe

Because I can't even access FDD or CDROM

                        Re: P5PE-VM question ?

Have you checked the Cmos battery is ok.
Can I assume you have the attached?
Section2.1.2 suggests that the file should perhaps be renamed P5PEVM.ROM

Can you make a bootable floppy in another PC and add the rom to it then try it in the machine with the new board from a cold start. (maybe disconnect the hard drive and CD so it doesnt try to boot from them?

Was the board supposed to be working, when you got it?
Have you tried starting without any ram - any beeps then?

I guess you don't really care to fully try to read my posts about this issue in your other threads, but I will try again here...

It is OKAY *most of the time* if MOSFETs show 0-10 Ohms resistance between Drain <-> Source leads if they are near the CPU. The CPU VRM has "lower" and "upper" MOSFETs. The lower MOSFETs have their Sources tied to ground and Drain tied to the inductors that output the V_core rail to the CPU. Because most CPUs (and GPUs too, FYI) have a low static resistance, the V_core rail will also show the same low resistance to ground. This means that the lower MOSFETs mentioned above will *appear* to have a short-circuit (0 to 10 Ohms) between Source and Drain as well.

If those MOSFETs were truly shorted, you motherboard would not *stay* turned ON. At most, you will get a brief fan spin and then the motherboard would turn OFF - that's a tell-tale sign of something being shorted.

I got that case on Asus A7S333, what's shorted in this case ? one of CPU VRM FET, or the the whole lot, there are 4 FETs near the CPU, if I release the CPU, fan keep spinning.....
