    Iiyama 2607WS suddenly dead

    Hi guys,

yesterday my screen suddenly turned off. Tried to bring it up again, no chance. Power LED stayed off. Today I disassembled the screen and measured some voltages without load.
Fuse is ok, AC line is ok. No burned parts, no cold solder joints. But I can only measure 0.5V at the output to the controller board.
Any suggestions which part could be broken?

      I second that
pictures of each board, front and back (in the same orientation) and close up of connectors, (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) using the manage attachments button, which is found by clicking "go advanced" under quick reply.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

There are some fuses which can be checked, as well as some diodes (diodes should not read short.)

On the upper left of your first photo, next to the white connector, there are two 5A fuses. Check them for continuity.

OK, do you see the diodes on the heatsinks, near the fuses?
Check if any have shorts between the pins -- check pins 1-2, 2-3, and 1-3.

Thank You for actually reporting the issue... you'd be surprised how many people don't and just say "I can't, wah!" and don't let anybody who can help know.

As for the broken device, I second the comment on the fuses. Fuses are always a good place to start.

What DC voltage do you get on that large brown cap measuring right at the two legs?

Thanks. Ok, now I measured the diodes on the heatsinks. The upper two have continuity in both directions.

At this point, I suggest measuring the voltage of each pin at the white connector. If you continue to see 0V, then I'd conentrate on Q100. It appears to be a PWM controller and switching mosfet all in one package.

I think the two diodes are broken. Types are MBR2045CT and MBR20100CT. The mosfet is a K3673. Do you think the diodes died with the mosfet?

Oops! Missed your earlier post about the diodes. If they are suspect, you'll have to pull them off the board and measure them again out of circuit. Very rare that they both fail. Is the K3673 also showing shorted?

How can I measure a mosfet exactly? Tomorrow I will solder out the two diodes and test them again. Here it is 21:33PM. Thank you so far.

I measure 0.5V on the connector. Tells me something is wrong with the AC-DC conversion in the upper left corner.

OK, let see if you actuall has shorted circuits at the Cathode of the secondary side power supply rectifier Diodes. Also try heating up the startup cap to see if it will startup if there is no shortes found on the secondary side.

How can I heat up the cap? Here is a picture of the measured diodes. It is not a regulator. It is a MBR20100CT.
                                      Mosfet seems to be ok.

Are you actually getting the 12v. The one that show 0V that's a regulator which takes the output of the diode that you show 0.5v, that is what it looks like from the traces.
Correction1, I look at the traces again, there is another winding feed that Diode not the regulator, you are right. There are three secondarywindings on this transformer. If you are getting 12v, then the primary side drive circuits muat be working otherwise there will be no any out puts.
What are the resistnace reading between the Ground and all 3 center pins of the 3 diodes?

                                          Hi all,

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...

Hello. My personal laptop just died on me, and to my luck, it does not seem like it can be fixed, but wanted an opinion. It is a Star Wars edition hp 15 laptop, with a dax1bdmb6f0 motherboard (without dedicated graphics). I was watching a video, moved the laptop, it shut off and thinking it was just a semi unplugged charging cable I pressed it back in, pressed the power button, saw it light up and left to another room. When I got back it was off again, but this time it did not turn back on.

The 3.3v line has a really low resistance, and if I plug in the charger, I do get 3.3v on...

Magnum IA.100 Amplifier Switches on, No Output, Possible Input Side fault?
                                          by flibidy
I have here a Magnum IA.100 which belongs to my parents.

The unit powers on & when the relay kicks in, you get a pop from the speakers (this might sound weird but is usual behavior for this amp). However, you get nothing coming through it from any of the inputs & no pops and crackls from any of the controls.

Because of the sound from the speaker when the amp turns on I have assumed that the output section probably works but I could be wrong & I'm not sure how to test that side of things further.

                                          What Ive done........

                                          hello guys,

                                          i need help to repair a edm-033 ps2
history : as always hdmi port and usb ports destroyed after unplugged
after change them, ps5 dead too : 1 beep, no blue light. after inspection 1.8v power was shorted, and because of dead panasonic chip. after remove it : no short anymore
                                          so i changed it
now i have got 5v stby,, 3.3v stby, 3.3v power, 1.8v power and no short on them
but the ps5 is dead again : 1 beep, near 10 seconds with power lines and then off, no blue light ...

i don't see any projection of liquid metal on pcb.
                                          ...

                                          Finding a dead short component

                                          Hi guys!
I searched for the term "dead short" in the forum but no specific thread came up however if I'm just blind and couldn't see the thread talking about this please forward me to that direction.
So my problem is I don't know how to find the source of a dead shorted voltage rail. Dead short = ~0 ohm resistance.
I have two VGAs (HD 4850 and HD 4870), both dead shorted to ground on the memory rail. I have the boardview file for the 4870 and the memory rail consists around ~7892346 capacitors...
I have a bench PSU and if I try to inject voltage the voltage...
