    Chieftec GPS-450-AA with dead 20N60C3

Hello everyone hope all doing well!
I have this PSU (GPS450-AA delta oem) around for like 4-5 years and I had it recapped early 2020 or 2021 with mostly UCC KY and Nichicon PW's. The bulk was and still is fine, the original Ltec's were bloated and empty. The previous issue was some major coil whine noise and at times random shutdowns when going idle. Today it started tripping the mains breaker and I think I have dead APFC mosfets (20N60C3). Right now upon checking I have the Q1 and Q3 FETs dead so far and I guess those are responsible for the PFC circuit. The only thing I care is If there is an easy way to bypass the PFC circuit and if possible without adding the two dead transistors. Nothing seems burned or dodgy and the short was there on the Q1-Q3 FET combo. So any cool band-aid ideas ?

Due to the age, you should measure capacitance and ESR from the bulk capacitor. You can see here in Badcaps a lot of stories where it goes bad in pfc circuits.

The bulk has decent ESR and the capacity is really good around 320~330uF, the dead 20N60C belong to the PFC circuit system. Someone on another post said about removing the DC-1982 board from the PSU to make it PFC-less. The AC voltage here is 220V so I guess it will still work without PFC.

How can I be sure that my EC chip is dead?
        by double_DD
        Hi all,

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...

Dell latitude 5590- Dead, No Power draw, lights or anything.
        by xzomboex19x
I have a Dell latitude 5590 of unknown history. exterior looks mint/ barely worn but it is completely dead. I am a complete novice in board repair but do have a background in small appliance repairs so not a complete noob, but close. I have done the usual things i know of o try and revive d dead laptop for example opened up the laptop, disconnected the battery, RTC battery and while unplugged form the charger shorted out the battery pins in the RTC BATT connector. and this has not changed anything.

I took out and re seated the RAM modules and no difference.
        I took out my multimeter...

MacBook Air M1 (A2337 / 820-02016) dead - no power, DFU restore fails after iBSS send, good voltages - NAND dead?
        by hiltsu
Hi everyone, first post here – long-time reader though. I have a dead MacBook Air M1 (2020) that won't charge or power on.

        Device info:
        MacBook Air (M1, 2020)
        Model j313ap (A2337, logic board 820-02016)

        Symptom:
No charging, no power on at all.

        Restore attempts:
Apple Configurator finds the MacBook in DFU mode, as Linux with lsusb: Bus 001 Device 021: ID 05ac:1227 Apple, Inc. Mobile Device (DFU Mode).

It looks like the MacBookAir is in firmware boot loop. I have tried to restore 14.x version and 26.2 (latest) version firmware,...
