I have just been given a Samsung 245b and CM802 is missing, where can I get a CM802 (18n 630V capacitor). or any info on this item.

Thanks I have just updated my profile. I have typed in CM802 in the search. Lot of things about replaceing it. but as mine is missing I an not 100% sure what it is.

Dont follow - you have said it is 18nf 630v with a cm board description,
so it is a capacitor. If it is missing how did you know 18nf 630v?

When you say missing - has it disintegrated or does it look like its never been on there?

I think it is not easy to find bur 22nf 630v is more common and can be used
I think retiredcaps says in one of the posts.

All I know is that it is missing, you can see that something has be unsoldered.
I found out is was 18nf 630v on a Badcaps post. I will have a look at the websites and see if I can find one.

Terry, Did you see the SCH of the board in post 40? What is the board #? BN44-XXXXXXXX?

Yes I have looked at the SCH board in post 40, same as my power board BN44-00173A. I have orderd the parts, I should get them in the next couple of days.

Just got the parts very fast delivery from CPC, replaced 3 x 68 OHM resistors with 3W ones and replaced CM802 with a panasonic capacitor ECQE6223JF.
All working now.

Great news - well done! You may want to consider replacing all the middlesize caps to give it a bit longer life.

This and similar thread prompted me to to have a go at repair of my 245B which broke down yesterday with same description. ie: blue light no display.
Caps seemed ok no change from new, Changed the three resistors with 68 Ohm 1 watt (only had monster sized ceramic in larger wattage) and now all working fine again.

I had the same problem with my syncmaster 245B (which has a BN44-00195A power supply).
Blue light came on but no image on the screen.

I was able to fix it and want to share my experiences.

At first, the problem was intermittent.
Sometimes an image was displayed and then suddenly it went black again.
Hitting the back or side of the screen a few times, often brought back the image.
But I had to hit it harder and harder to get the image back and after a few weeks I deciced to have a look inside.
After visual inspection I saw nothing special, no bad capacitors or resistors.
Also the fact that hitting it often/sometimes brought back the image made me believe it's not caused by an electronic component but by something else.
But what? A bad or loose transformer was my first guess.

I took out a DVM and started measuring on the stand-alone power board.
Standby 5.2V was ok. Connected it to the Pwr-On line to activate the other output voltages.
Nada, no 24V.

Then I started bending the PCB, pulling up one side while holding down the middle.
Don't do this with you bare hands or you'll get electrocuted!
All of a sudden, the 24V appeared!

Then I stumbled on this blog:

Here they mention soldering joins that went bad.
So I re-soldered all big end medium joints and that did the trick.

So get your soldering iron out guys!

I just resoldered every bigger component like in the image from the blog and it seems to did the trick! Let's see if it will fail in the next three days!

That's my board and i think the cold solder joint was in one of the red circles.
Some leg wobbled a little bit.
Would this make sense?
How hot are these components in operating state?

Afterwards I didn't screwed the board properly fix to give a little bit more space for thermal expansion.
Does this make sense?

I'm no pro, therefore my questions.

I have a Samsung SyncMaster SA450

I seem to have the same problem but I don't know how to 'check' the different components with a micrometer (I've done it over 10 years ago...)

Here's a couple pictures I took, it seems the screen had been opened up before as it was not so difficult to open... it's over 3 years old (work 2nd screen) :









I have no idea where I should put the black and red metal points for the micrometer.
