I'm happy to report I can now answer part of my question myself, in that I have finally been able to find a boardview for my MSI A520M Pro mainboard.
By sheer coicidence, I saw Mainboard Medic yesterday posted a video about repairing an exact same MSI A520M Pro mainboard on his Youtube Channel. I have been a subscriber to his magnificent channel almost from the beginning, every saturday I look forward to seeing a new video. If you didn't know his channel or haven't sucscribed yet, go ahead and do so, I'm sure you won't regret it! I think he (Daniel) is a Badcaps member, would be great... -
MSI A520M Pro mainboard - need boardview and/or hires photo's of components surrounding RT8894 PWM controller
Hi all,
Recently I was donated a defective MSI A520M Pro rev. 1.0 mainboard, that I am now trying to get back on its feet again. The error description when I received it, was that it wouild not boot, with the CPU error led lighting up.
When inspecting the board with a magnifying glass, I noticed someone had slipped with a screwdriver when installing the CPU cooler. Not just once, but 2 times at that. Go figure. In the end the result was 2 scratches with damaged copper traces and a few knocked off (and missing) components around the RT8894 PWM controller. No wonder the... -
4 weeks went by without anyone chiming in. So, I had another go at trying to bring my Photon printer back to life myself, and now I did succeed! I followed the tutorials on how to debrick the device that I linked to in my opening post, but with a small yet quite essential difference.
This time I used another USB stick to force a firmware flashback, and all in all it took only a minute or so to debrick the printer. I found out the hard way you MUST use a FAT32 formatted USB stick, any other format will not be detected by the printer. Four weeks ago I used an old small capacity (32Mb,...Leave a comment:

Wow, that was quick! These will be very helpful in my inspection of the mainboard. Thanx a lot!Leave a comment:

Gigabyte GA-H110-D3A schematic/boardview needed
Hello all,
Does anybody have a schematic and/or boardview of the Gigabyte GA-H110-D3A mainboard available? It would really help me out big time...
This board was donated to me in a known non-working state. In its previous life it was used as a mining board, so I suspected bad caps and a relatively easy fix. My intention is to use the fixed board as a testbed for a Truenas or Unraid build. The previous owner told me that the mainboard started to act 'weirdly' after replacing the originally installed Celeron for an i5-6400, varying from starting up irregularly to not at... -
Anycubic Photon 5.5 3D printer 25Q32 flashrom dump needed
Hello all, as the title says, I'm very much in need of a valid firmware dump of a Anycubic Photon 5.5 3D resin printer. It's stored in a Winbond 25Q32, so it's 4Mbyte.
Here's a little background for my request. A few weeks ago I bought this 3D printer from a guy who had moved on to a PLA printer. I got it at a vey reasonable price, as it was in a defective state. The seller told me that he had experienced a power failure during a firmware upgrade, after which the printer appeared to be dead. He thought the firmware was corrupted in such a way that the printer was now bricked. As he...Last edited by re-atari; 02-03-2025, 06:54 PM. -
Re: MSI Z270-A Pro (MS-7A71 Ver 1.2) Schematic Request
Hi Richard,
I watched your YT video in which you tried to fix this mainboard (I've been a subscriber to your channel almost since the very start).
You could have saved yourself the trouble of desoldering the BIOS chip (twice), if you had used the JSPI1 socket to reprogram the BIOS chip. The sole purpose of this socket is (re)programming the BIOS, the pins are directly wired to the BIOS chip. It is more or less a more reliable version of a programming clip. I presume MSI uses this socket...Last edited by re-atari; 04-06-2023, 07:04 PM.Leave a comment:

Repair Denon AVR-X2600h power amp SBL and SBR channel
A few weeks ago I bought a defective Denon AVR-X2600h receiver, wanted to use this one to find and fix a fault in my X2400h. This last part is already successfully done (turned out to be a defective TOP268VG in the X2400h's STBY PSU). So far so good.
As I like a challenge, I now want to try to fix the X2600h. According to the serial nr. the receiver is built in june 2020. The seller wrote in his ad, that he had bought the receiver in a defective state, and wanted to fix it himself, but could not find the time to do so. The receiver would jump to DC protect mode when switched on... -
Re: EMPREX - LM-2601 - Sw26B - ILPI-082
TDK is a reputable brand, so these should be OK. Make sure you get the 6KV ones.
I'm not sure, though, if replacing the 12pF caps with 3pF ones will work. Might be too much difference in value. On my monitors the 2 outer caps were 12pF types and the 2 inner caps 5pF.
Then again, on the first SL3260 I fixed I replaced both 12pF caps with 5pF caps I scavanged from a scrap Samsung 225 monitor PSU. On the second SL3260 I replaced the 12pF caps with 10pF caps scavanged from the PSU of scrap Sony TV. Both monitors worked...Leave a comment:

Re: EMPREX - LM-2601 - Sw26B - ILPI-082
This monitor is identical to a FujitsuSiemens SL3260W and a Vizio LP2626.
A burnt HV cap C519 is a standard fault with these monitors. I have repaired 4 SL3260's since 2013, all still working to this day. On each monitor one of these HV caps was burnt up, IIRC each time C519.
As you've noticed, the 27pF replacements you installed won't work properly. C504 and C519 (the outer ones) need to be 12pF, C503 and C517 (the inner ones) 5pF. All rated at 3KV or (if you can get them) preferably 6KV. They are in what's called...Last edited by re-atari; 12-27-2021, 12:40 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: PHILIPS 42PFL7404 no back-light
This PSU is used on the 8404 series (42" and larger models) as well. There's an electrolytic cap underneath the tunnelshaped cooling plate, which is known to go bad.
Not the best place to put an electrolytic cap...

Re: ASUS TUF Z270 Mk 2 beeps with no ram but will not boot
Yes, it's a real nuisance. I guess nobody wants to invest their good time and effort in writing a user manual, just to see Chinese sellers copying and supplying it with their knockoff POST cards.
I'm always a bit hesitant to ordering components from AliExpress.
The first order I ever placed there (about 10 years ago), was with what afterwards turned out to be a scammer's shop. The items were never delivered, the seller time and again stated there was a delay in shipping. In fact, they were...Last edited by re-atari; 06-14-2021, 09:01 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: ASUS TUF Z270 Mk 2 beeps with no ram but will not boot
Although the attached document is about another manufacturer's mainboards, the list of AMI POST codes and their meaning just might be helpful in your efforts to fix this ASUS board.
BTW: I have subscribed to your YT channel some time ago, and was watching video #67 about fixing a supposedly 500W PSU earlier this evening. Noticed the 2 IC layout, immediately suspected they will be a TL494 and a LM339. Turned out to be correct.
The KA7500 is compatible to a TL494, your PSU's silkscreen even shows a TL494...Leave a comment:

Re: MSI B85-G43 GAMING no Vcore voltages.
Correct, JTPM1 is the TPM connector, JSPI1 is the connector used for flashing the BIOS flashrom. Did you insert the POST card the right way round on the TPM connector, as in pin 1 on pin 1?
The doc's with my POST card state that on MSI boards it only gives out POST codes when inserted on the TPM connector. Only on Gigabyte mainboards is the POST card to be inserted in a PCIe connector. This appears to be true, as on my MSI X370 mainboard my TL611 only gave POST codes when inserted to the TPM connector and nothing...Leave a comment:

Re: MSI B85-G43 GAMING no Vcore voltages.
Just checking, but you did connect your POST card to the TMP or LPC_Debug connector, right? On MSI boards, they only work on TPM or LPC_Debug. When inserted in PCIe connector the POST card display just shows '00' with the 2 decimal points lit alternating.Leave a comment:
