    Sharp LC-70LE660U stuck at logo...kinda

I just got a FREE 70” Sharp. When I powered it on, it wouldn't go past the Sharp logo boot screen. I unplugged and did the Vol- and Input combo and it booted right up. Went in and did a factory initialization on it hoping that would fix it...no dice. I can only get it to work by using the Vol- and Input combo. Software is v2.23.

I'm thinking the Main Board needs replaced. Am I thinking correctly? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Try a firmware update from usb with a flashdrive.

          Tried the update.

          -formatted drive to Fat32
          -downloaded FW from Sharp
-unzipped and placed the .img file on the stick
-went to TV Menu and tried to perform update
-stick not recognized, files not recognized.

Any other ideas? I tried from the manual update over Network as well, and it just says it’s up to date.

Try unplug tv from outlet, plug in flash drive then plug tv in. You should see some progress on the screen shortly. It should start the update by itself. It might not be updating because you have the latest firmware.

Could be you need to go into service menu, if you have lamp errors you need to clear them. Have to be very careful in service menu, adjusting something wrong can brick the tv.

Thanks for the help. I went into the service menu and didn't see any errors anywhere. It says there's 12 pages, but not all 12 are accessible. I've attached photos of every page I can get to.

Also it's setup for a 60” panel, is that right?

You could toggle the screen size setting there see if it has a 70, maybe do a lamp error reset, shouldn't hurt any but I don't see a lamp error on that screen??

Did you try the update procedure RJ found?

Yeah I’ve been trying it. It just won’t recognize the file or start the update.

Hmm, maybe try a different flashdrive.

when you say "stick not recognized"... what does that mean? Get a stick with an indicator light on it so you can see what's up. Further, if, indeed, the system is not "acknowledging" the usb stick, it has nothing to do with file, there is an issue with the port and / or utility / software that is using the port. IF this is true, you want to get at the usb port and check for voltages there as 5v should be seen.

The system isn’t recognizing the usb stick. I’ve tried two different ones, one which had an indicator light and was lit once plugged in. I know it’s putting power out, I’ve got backlight LEDs that plug in via USB, and they work when plugged in.

I saw a post that said that the .img file needs to be name to “install.dmg” for it to work. Right now it’s something like BUFF_C_223.img. Could that be the issue? Sounds unlikely to me...

it costs nothing to rename and try again. If I recall correctly, this has something to do with the platform that you are using and how the files are created and transferred. Not sure renaming will work.

Further: Are you sure about this... "I saw a post that said that the .img file needs to be name to “install.dmg” for it to work." I don't think the set utilizes "DMG" files.

you also need to plug in the usb with the set unplugged and then plug the power in... that way the system automatically detects the usb and starts looking for img files and loads them accordingly. Still further, you need to test the voltage as just seeing lights isn't a test. The voltage has to be near the proper value AND stable.

Just had one of these tv's come in stuck on the Sharp logo, and eventually cycling. We downloaded the firmware (Buff_C_223.img 130,060KB) and extracted it to a flash drive. Plugged in the flash drive, held input and vol- and powered up. It started loading the flash drive for a while, then froze up. It said to not turn off the tv, but we had no choice. Unplugged the tv (wouldn't turn off), and removed the flash drive. The tv did the same thing (stuck on sharp logo). So unplugged again, put the flash drive back in, and powered up the tv (without holding the input and vol-). It started loading the software again, but differently. It showed each portion of the software it was loading. After a couple of minutes, it said it was completed! And all is well. Don't really know if holding or not holding the input and vol- makes any difference. Good luck to the next guy!
