Just had one of these tv's come in stuck on the Sharp logo, and eventually cycling. We downloaded the firmware (Buff_C_223.img 130,060KB) and extracted it to a flash drive. Plugged in the flash drive, held input and vol- and powered up. It started loading the flash drive for a while, then froze up. It said to not turn off the tv, but we had no choice. Unplugged the tv (wouldn't turn off), and removed the flash drive. The tv did the same thing (stuck on sharp logo). So unplugged again, put the flash drive back in, and powered up the tv (without holding the input and vol-). It started loading...

Re: TVPartsToday Not Recommended
They charged us restocking on a bad board, and you are saying they did not charge you on returning a GOOD board?? Not buying it. Probably wrote this for Tv Parts Today.
BTW Check out the NEW negative reviews. Same ol', same ol'. Nothing has changed with them. They run their company on the backs of innocent purchasers....

Re: TVPartsToday Not Recommended
Well that is at least surprising. Just 4 hours ago, they responded to a customer telling them that they never refund shipping.
And I quote, "Original shipping costs are always nonrefundable as they are costs paid directly to FedEx for the service of delivery."
They sent me a bad main board and charged shipping both ways and a restocking charge. I had the original main board repaired at NicksTv. He does good work.
BTW, NormaJean Yates who works...Last edited by kdh2012; 12-21-2022, 04:54 PM.

Re: TVPartsToday Not Recommended
Tv Parts Today is a joke of a company. They ship out untested boards, then charge the customer shipping (both ways) to return the bad defective board.
There is no way that that is acceptable.
I see that they were on ebay for about a year. They have/had a 14.3% feedback rating. That sounds about right.
Definitely, shop somewhere else!

I had the same failure. The firmware update worked for me as well. Thanks to all!!...

Re: Philips 55PFL3907/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video
I got mine off of ebay. There are cheaper ones for 40" & 46" tv's. I don't know that they will work completely. So, I ponied up the $100 and bought the right one.
The p/n that I got was: BA11P4G0401 Z_2_1 Don't know if I needed the "Z" for sure or not. Better safe than sorry.
Good luck!...

Re: Philips 55PFL3907/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video
I tried a reflow twice - no difference.
The "enable" from the main to the frc board is not a single signal, as we wish it was. It is a handshaking set of signals. I checked the uart, scl & sda signals. They definitely had continuity all the way to the main IC. But the main never outputted anything on those signals. The frc did output on the uart signal, to the main.
frustrating ....
Sorry Davi.p; I don't understand what you are asking.
edit: I did have 12v...

Re: Philips 55PFL3907/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video
Sure enough, the main board did fix it. $100.
So if your FRC board has good input signals, but no outputs, check the uart, SCL & SDA signals.
I'm thinking it is firmware, but couldn't update it without a picture. I did try precisely inputting the exact arrow and enters from the remote (copying off the good board), no luck. Just not reasonable to do that blind.

Re: Philips 55PFL3907/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video
Well, I jumpered the Uart Tx & Rx signals back to the FRC board (using a 1k res) and it turned on the outputs of that board. There was still no data, but the outputs were live.
So the FRC board was sending a Uart signal to the Main, but the Main was not communicating back (at least I think so).
I have ordered a Main. We'll see how it goes.Last edited by kdh2012; 10-26-2017, 11:46 AM.

Re: Philips 55PFL3907/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video
Thanks for responding on this. I believe that you are correct about needing an enable. But, I think it is a complicated handshaking sort of enable.
Almost like the main board forgot that it has an FRC board and is just outputting the data and clock signals that a T-con board would use....

Re: Philips 55PFL3907/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video
Anybody ever verify that the main board was the problem?
I also changed the FRC board because it has working inputs, but no output at all. If it is the fault of the main board, it must be something with the SDA, SCL or, Uart signals. Everything else looks good.
It's hard to accept that the main board is bad when it is doing so many things correctly??
So, anyone ever fix theirs with this precise problem? TIA!...

Philips 55PFL3907/F7 Sound and Backlight, No Video
Did you ever fix your 55" philips tv? I have one doing the same thing. I have also changed the "frc" board with no luck. I also have good input signals to the frc board from the main board, but no signals out of the frc board.
I think that I got a bad frc board from ebay. Did you ever fix yours?
Thanks,
Dan

Re: PN51D7000FFXZA bad Main board BN94-04689A
The memory IC1302 is still available on ebay. Try searching "IC1302". I just bought one. Unfortunately, it did not work. The tv still cycled over and over. Freezing the new IC did not have any effect.
I reinstalled the original memory IC and freezing it did work! Maybe the memory IC I got was also bad. Or maybe this IC1302 is not really the problem, but freezing it somehow gets the board to work. I dunno?
If you buy this IC1302, let us know how it works out.

Re: 40" Element LCD ELGFT401 Picture Issues
Hey Guys,
Just got a 55" Element (ELGFW551) in with the glitching and sometimes a green screen.
The cap did it! I'm surprised. I had previously removed it and it tested good, both in uf's and on the ESR meter. Then I found this thread. I replaced it with a 330uf, 16v to give it some extra uf's. It works!
I have noticed higher voltage caps tend have higher ESR readings. So I would stick with a 16v vs 35v, unless that is all that is available. Clearly, from above, the 35v cap does work. Just my .02....

Re: Sharp LC 42SV50U green lite
Hey Guys - great fix!
I just had one of these tv's come in with a near shorted main chip (~6 ohms).
Replacing the IC got rid of the short, but the tv still did not work. Reloading the memory did it!
Since someone had a tv come back. I wonder if this IC starts using too much power and causes the corrupt memory?
The IC is a MEDIATEK - MT5389FUNU. Found one for about $15 shipped. It's 256 pins of touchy soldering ...
Thanks again!

Re: Sony KDL-46EX400 2 blink error code
Hey Guys,
I just got in a KDL-40ex400 with the 2 blinks. I changed out the main board to fix it. We'll see if it holds.
It originally came into the shop with 6 blinks. I modified the inverter slightly to keep it from dimming quite so much (that is what was triggering the error).
After about a week, it came back in with the 2 blinks. After changing the main board, I removed my mod and it went back to 6 blinks. I put the mod back in. So far, so good.

Re: 40" Sony LCD KDL-40EX500 Seconds to black (6 blinks)
Hi guys,
I'm late to the party, but just got one of these in the shop and here is what I did.
It seems that when the duty cycle of the backlight control goes too low (around 10%), it causes an error and the inverter board shuts down.
I replaced R007 (was a 10k) with a diode (cathode,bar, facing towards C008). Then I added a 1 meg resistor in parallel with C008).
This stretches the pulse just long enough to keep the duty cycle high enough to not cause an error....

Re: vizio amber light E321VL
I just bought one of those eeproms. Didn't fix the board/tv.
Turned out to be a bad solder joint. I resoldered parts in groups, so I don't know exactly which part was the problem. But, I have a pretty good idea.
Those resistor packs around the main IC do not have legs. The contacts do not necessarily touch the pads. So, in order to make contact, you have to bridge the solder joint. That is a good way to have a bad contact.
Anyway, after soldering all the r-packs, the tv works! Yea! I would suggest resoldering...
