Tcon input signals are not generated by any other than mainboard, only SDA returns back to mainboard but dont affect image, so to be safe change first tcon...

My thought is replacing T con is a temporary fix. Main board maybe sending too much voltage or over driving data signals into one side of the T con. So inevitably mainboard root cause. Just a thought.

Especially after hitting the main board cause different variations on that side of the screen makes me think a drifting resistor to the T con from the maid board might be in order

Glad to see it's working now!

hi thanks for that guys everything appears to be working fine now on this tv including all remote functions
yes when I replaced the tcon I think the second time it did work for a short while then went bad again, so not sure if main had killed the replacement tcon
I would love to know which board caused the fault but am reluctant to risk damaging these replacement boards by mix and matching

not sure that I would do that just yet. IF I recall, earlier in your thread, you replaced a tcon and "post replacement", the set worked for "5 minutes" and then you were back to "half / half". I assume now that you have checked out the functions in terms of remote and such... inputs, etc. to see that they are working normally.

I would think a bit more about what "setup" is what... since some of these didn't work with the other thread. Maybe its more of a "initialization" issue than anything... my first guess is some form of eprom "issue" either reading or otherwise such that the main gets corrupted and can't readily recover.

PS... glad you got to a working set.

Half picture unlikely to be caused by a power board fault. So you could probably rule that out.

T-con/main is the difficult one. Pretty unlikely for either to damage each other, but small chance.

Glad you fixed the tv it would be nice for future readers too know what board fixed the issue but its your own choice if you risk swapping boards around and possibly causing further issues.

so will post with result if replacement power, mainboard or tcon sorts the problem

A new eeprom costs few $ but i have no idea, depends on how much time you can invest on this set, but i don't understand you, before i have said it to you, you claimed you need a new mainboard, so this mainboard is for the trashcan, what do you lost? and second, the other person with equal issue said he have warmed the mainb. and the defect changed, this is not related to a memory.. sure..

if you dont fancy trying the oven reflow method until you have ruled a eeprom issue out, maybe try heating the cpu/main ic up with a hair dryer for a good few minutes see if that changes anything.

have baked mainboards before, laptops, not wanting to put this one in the oven, maybe as a last resort, do you think maybe try a new eeprom ??

The reset on pin 5,6 is a safe operation, many times tested and never problems, sometimes works sometimes not, depends on eeprom type. On the tv Italian forum i have read yesterday of one of the various LG defects related to mainboard, the user cooked the board in the oven for 5 mins at 180 Celsius degrees and now is 1 week that works, he have cooked another on LG mainb. 1 year ago and it is still working.. It has to be removed all the soft plastic parts that melts..

VIZIO E70-E3 Half picture with half TCON
    by Fly_Among_Stars
    Hi,
    I have a VIZIO E70-E3.
Symptoms: Black screen, no picture, but LED backlights are working.
I probed the power board and voltages are as listed on the board.
    Main board appears fine, too.
I believe the problem is either a bad T-CON board, or connection to LCD, or bad LCD.
There are two separate ribbon cables feeding the LCD.
If both are connected, the screen is black.

If only the ribbon cable that feeds the right side of the screen (when viewed from the front) is disconnected, the left side of the screen shows picture and...

Samsung LCD TV no picture backlight on no 12v at tcon
    by shelby5041
    hi
i have a samsung lcd tv

it powers on with sound and backlight but no picture

all voltages from PS are good 12v 3.3v and 5v

whats odd is that at the tcon i tested voltage across the fuse on the tcon and i get 0v

i figured main board issue..so i ordered a used main board....when i put replacement main board in i still have same issue

no 12v at the tcon fuse

i disconnect the panel ribbon cables to rule out any panel issues and i still have no 12v at the tcon fuse

    the odds of having 2...

SAMSUNG UN55KS9000F picture fades then distorts into vertical lines after 20 seconds
    by JJAAMM
This was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.

    Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode...

Samsung TV model UE50TU: rebooting, backlight, sound, but no picture
    by TR103
    Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
    - sound and backlight, but no picture
    - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
    - it keeps rebooting
    - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
    - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
    - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

    - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

Sony 8K XBR-75Z8H White Screen Vertical Bars Tcon Code. Help Needed🙏
    by Daren87
    Hello everyone,

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...
