hi
ive got a modern digital clock radio approx 15yrs old
my question is how long can a clock radio or a simple radio last ss farcas operating hours?
since elec components have limited hour lifecspan i would imagine the radio or clock radio would eventually fail.
the reason i ask is because i have my clock radio on radio function 24/7 for the past 7 years and its still working fine....i leave the radio on ..never turn off past 7years...thats approx 60000 hours
it uses very little power just a few watts i would imagine that may have something...

i did the break key and orange button and nothing shows on screen...just a few thin white horizontal lines...monitor could be bad or the machine is getting pwr but not actually booting up..bad ram..bad cpu etc...i may try selling as is or part it out .Last edited by shelby5041; 09-13-2024, 09:07 AM.

i may be right
i found this info online
Most Common Issue … Did you Model 3/4 Go Poof!
If you turned on your Model III/4 and smoke came out, it is possible your power supply caps blew. This is very common....

old trs80 computer lots of smoke
hi
my neighbor gave me an old radio shack trs80 model3 computer...it was stored in his attic for 35yrs...i powered it on and after 5min lots of smoke was coming out of computer...i took it apart and didnt notice any fire evidence so i assume a cap split open...i looked around only saw 1 suspect part...see photo...could this be the smoke?1 Photo

thanks will check it .not sure how i missed it...guess i was looking for a F lsbel for fuse normally F1 and didnt see it...overlooked it ....i did swap tcons prior and no change...the odds of both boards having blown fuses not likely but is possible..should i have 12v at the v12v test point?.....if fuse is ok then what?Last edited by shelby5041; 05-27-2024, 07:19 PM.
