Samsung ln46a550p3f solarized screen problem

This 46 inch TV recently started giving me problems. It happened few weeks after a move, so not sure if something broke during the move.

Model code: LN46A550P3FXZA

The bright areas on the screen seem to be solarized. Dark areas seem fine. Images below.

open the back up and check your gamma voltages, if it fails gamma test, then it will most likely be a failed as15 chip on the t-con board.

Thanks. I am new to these things. Will go real slow with the process so i don't mess up. I want to try to fix it myself.

I should be easy to figure out where t-con board is. will have to see how to check gamma voltages. If there's some quick tutorial, please guide me to it too. Thanks again.

open up the back and take a pic and one of us will guide you in the right direction.

it is normally in either a central top or bottom position, under a shield. it is the one that the main leads to before the signal enters the panel.

i would fire freeze spray at the above mention chip and see what happens . if it temporarily cures the fault it needs a new chip .
freezing it might do nothing but it did on the one i fixed last . that chip was getting very hot to the touch .

Yes this definitely looks like a T-CON Bd issue....Cool the AS15 Chip on the T-CON and see what happens.

Due to the move I would reset all cables and screen connections before getting too deeply into other fixes. Ribbon cables etc are often held down with tape and can come loose adding strain to connections.

Due to the move I would reset all cables and screen connections before getting too deeply into other fixes. Ribbon cables etc are often held down with tape and can come loose adding strain to connections.

Sure. This should be the quickest thing to try. Doing that now.

I think I have seen 3 TV's of this model with bad tcons. You should be able to find a replacement tcon on ebay for around $30USD. Much easier to replace the tcon than replacing the AS15 chip.

If you want to list your gamma voltages 1~18 in order we can check them. They are readily accessible between to ribbon cables. Be sure to ground your board first

I think I have seen 3 TV's of this model with bad tcons. You should be able to find a replacement tcon on ebay for around $30USD. Much easier to replace the tcon than replacing the AS15 chip.

Thanks. Will find one and replace. $30 is reasonable. That will be the easiest thing to do.
Do I have to get a t-con board for the same exact model and size? what t-con board should I search for?

The V520H1-C6 as printed on the board is the blank board P/N which can be stuffed with parts to make various T-CON PCB assemblies.
Your TV uses CHI-MEI LCD panel. You should look for the sticker for the LCD Model number too.

I see AS19 chip on middle right. Is that the one?
Should I buy some special cooling spray, or just compressed air can should work?

Yes, it''s the AS19. If you don't have any, I personally wouldn't waste your money on freeze spray, it's only a quick way to sometimes check the fault, it may or may not affect the AS19 ic. Better to spend your money on tools/replacement parts or getting your tcon repaired.
The quickest way is to measure the gamma voltages as detailed above although I just swap the AS chips if ever I see solarisation.

That is blank PCB p/n, not the stuffed board P/N, that blank board has to be stuffed with correct parts for the particular LCD screen model number so do not go by the blank PCB number, you have to go by PCBA numbers as printed on the bar code sticker.
