How to get cable over antenna to analog TV?

Hey, I have a TV in my room that I use for all my video viewing. It is an Apex GT2415. 24" 4:3 CRT. It has Coax, S-Video, and 3 Composite/LR audio ports. I have an RF modulator with all the same ports and an Apex DT502 Digital TV converter box. I have tried many combos to get it to work but can't seem to pick anything up over my antenna. The antenna is a GE 12940.

What should I be doing to get it to work? Thank you

You need to connect the r.f. modulator output to the tv r.f. input, most r.f. modulators do not have a r.f. amplifier to transmit the signal over the air.
You really did'nt explain what you are trying to do but I'm guessing you are trying to send your video source from one room, over the air to a tv in another room?
If that's correct you would need a small r.f. amp and (TX) antenna after the modulator
Or are you trying to pick up over the air digital tv to watch on the tv?

I assume you are actually trying to hook up a catv cable (coax in) to your digital tv converter (Apex DT502) and then hope to watch the digital cable tv channels that you are hoping are converted by the Apex DT502 to some analog signal (svideo, or rca video). If that is the case, it likely won't work as the cable system may be using a different modulation system than over than air "antenna broadcasting" would which is normally what the box is used for. |You likely need a cable converter box provided by your cable provider.

Wow, sorry I forgot to mention what I was trying to do. Yes I'm just trying to view the digitally broadcast channels on my old analog TV. They broadcast free channels here, it works on my 50" TV downstairs with just the antenna itself.

Then you don't need the r.f. modulator, connect the antenna to the antenna input on the digital box DT502, then connect the box to the tv, either use the audio/video outputs or if you are connecting it to the tv via the r.f. cable make sure the tv is set to the same channel the dt502 box's output is, (either ch 3 or 4) then select the channel you want on the dt502, or do a scan

Being as the antenna is a GE 12940 indoor aeriel do these really pick up a good signal where i live in the uk you have no chance of picking up freeview signals.

If the antenna works on his 50" tv in the basement it should work on another tv at the same location.

If you have this Apex DT502 all you have to do is connect the outdoor or indoor OTA antenna coaxial cable to the Ant input on the Apex and the coaxial cable output to the analog tv input, and tune chan 3 or 4 on the tv

Yep, I was doing that. So I had it set up correctly, but I didn't have a remote! There are no buttons on the unit itself so I had to buy a remote for it on eBay. Once it came in, all I had to do was tell it to scan for channels in the menu. Cable started working! I thought there was something wrong with my TV because the image was spotty and had spotty white static on it. I opened the Apex unit and found a JWCO cap bulging on the bottom. I replaced all of the filtering caps and the startup cap on the PSU. Once I fired it up again, it had a perfect picture!

Trying to bring the antenna cable down from my roof to my living room, it's currently not wired to anything. But instead of a coax cable, I found two of these 4-core monstrosities. I'm guessing the two light green wires are common to eachother, as are the two dark green wires - and each 'pair' is either signal or shield. Any ideas?...

Log periodic antenna to Coaxial cable... balun right?
                    by eccerr0r
I acquired a (large) used rooftop log periodic broadcast reception antenna and it didn't come with wiring. I figure I could use it for parts if nothing else but first I'd like to see if this thing actually works for receiving distant stations.

From passing from amateur knowledge, these log periodic antennas need to be matched to the impedance of coaxial cable, nevermind the balanced nature to the unbalanced nature of co-ax. So I'll need to locate a balun.

So I was wondering about people who worked on rooftop terrestrial broadcast antennas...are these log periodic...

                    All,
I recently moved to a very rural area. I am about 25 miles from the nearest urban settings (2 separate College Towns). 45-50 miles from a Urban City (Toledo Ohio)

There was a Omni-directional Wineguard Antenna (amplified) that was mounted on the house originally. Came with the house. Center of the top of Roof a few feet from Chimney on a 4 foot pole. The 75 ohm line went from the roof down 2-3 stories to the small Wineguard amplifier and then it split to the living room and master bedroom. Currently a Very simple setup.

Since we moved in, 8 years ago,...
