Check the resistance between pin 5 and pin 9, (look at the spec sheet on how to count the pin of the IC).

I doubt it. I have a right angle one somewhere. I could try it.
In the mean time I ordered a working psu from eBay for $38.
Hopefully that fixes the TV.
Then I can order the part for the other one from China and won't have to worry on how long it takes to get here.

Fixed. A new power supply took care of it. Cost of $38.
Without your help, I wouldn't have know which board was faulty.
Now I also know what's wrong with the faulty one.
I can take my time fixing it if I want.

I enjoyed following this thread. I have the same issue (amber light is on. One click when I plug the unit in, no picture or audio). If I understand correctly, the issue was with an integrated circuit. My question is what caused the failure? Was there an underlying problem? Was there something about the main board that caused this? Malachi - is your tv still working?

I don't know what caused it. I bought it as it was and sold it shortly after.

Check if you have D5V/VG/A12v, Check if F8201 fuse is ok, if open, you may have an issue in the U8301 circuit.

would the U8301 cause a blown fuse?
all the fuses are good.

If U8301 was shorted, it would likely blow F8201.

no response from power button or remote.
