LG 32LC46 Model 32LC46-ZC not turning on or showing any sign of life.

This 7 year old TV is like new, but sadly doesn't work at all. Just to be clear, there is absolutely no sign of power.

It just would not switch on one day. I moved it about and it came on but then went off.

I replaced the power cable and even removed the back to ensure there was life going to the power supply (which there is) but am frightened to go any further.

Any advice on next step would be greatly appreciated.

With some research, I found a manual at http://elektrotanya.com/?q=showresul...oria=&kat2=all

How about uploading good clear pictures so we will know what we are dealing with?

Actually I'd forgotton that if you tap it hard on a work bench (which I've just done) you can get the power LED to come on, but as you move it around it goes off again and you have to give it another sharp tap or bang.

Bad connections, bad mounting screws for the circuit board grounding, bad connection on the connectors, etc. you will need to do really good visual inspection.

images attached - even when there is no sign of power and the LED light won't come on there is still 240V on either side of the fuse as shown.

              OK.
              1) The connectors of the power supply have labels for each pin to tell us what they are, you need to check the DCV of each pin to see if any of them has any DCV on them.
You will need to report the readings and you MUST pin the pin number and pin names AFTER each pin so we can see what is present and what is not present.

              2) What is the power supply board P/N as shown on the barcode sticker?

I'm not sure I fully understand this? Is DCV the DC voltage across the connector block? Do I just stick the probes up the connector block? If so, should I set the multimeter to DC which seems odd as it's 240V AC.

By the way, I've checked and there is full continuity from the pins right back to the plug which goes into the wall socket.

Not sure if this is what you have asked for but the blue negative cable has a label with E13933B (or maybe the B is an 8). There is NO AC voltage between it and earth chassis.

The red live cable has a label with 600V FT1 22AWG and it has 232V AC between the terminal and earth chassis.

I think what budm is asking is next to the white connectors on the top right of the power supply is writing (printed on the board) which tells you what each pin does.
What are those? Ie top pin (1) =

Apologies for confusion. I have now attached an image of the pins for the 2 connector blocks. Their details are below -

                        1 AOC - 5.09
                        2 ON/OFF - 0
                        3 ST 5V - 5.09
                        4 GND - 0
                        5 I-C - 0
                        6 ERR - 0
                        7 I-B - 0
                        8 ST 5V - 5.09
                        9 GND - 0
                        10 DIM - 0
                        11 6V - 6.08
                        12 GND - 0
                        13 ???? - 0

                        1 19V - 18.47
                        2 19V - 18.44
                        3 GND - 0
                        4 GND - 0
                        5 6V - 5.95
                        6 GND - 0
                        7 3.4 - 0
                        8 GND - 0
                        9 12V - 11.82
                        10 GND - 0

To take these DC voltage readings, I removed the connector blocks from the board and connected the probes between the earth chassis and each pin in turn.

Pin 7 on the second block should I assume have a 3.4V but has 0

Just to follow up on earlier posts -

1 There definitely seems to be a bad connection somewhere as I can easily get it to come on and off by a sharp tap on the worktop.

2 When it comes on, there is 3.4V from Pin 7

Should I assume it is definitely in the power board and order a new one??

OK, you need to have all the connectors in place and then take the readings again because the main board sends some command signals to the power supply board and the backlights circuit. So far you do have STANDBY Voltage.

What is that hanging red wire from the inverter board?
So you do have pilot lights, one signal that does not look right to me is the:
10 DIM - 0.44 which looks to be too low for the backlights Dimming signal.
BTW: 1 AOC - 5.04 is actually ADC (AC DETECT signal).

Your Voltage readings looks normal except the DIm pin 10.

What is that hanging red wire from the inverter board?
There is both a red and a black wire suspended neither of which look as if they have ever been connected.

The part number looks like B791B330585010904 and I tried to attach an image of it in an earlier post.

Sorry, I found the board on SHOPJIMMY.
Those wires should not be floating around like that, need to find which pins on the inverter connector they are connected to. Did any one else work on this TV before you?
