could be, did you try reseating your tcon cable and ribbons? careful with the ribbons, use fingernail to pop up retainers, can check youtube tcon replace for a video, if you like.

Look closely at the bottom of the black bar, it looks like an impact point.

Definitely looks cracked to me... that can't be anything but impact damage. Unrepairable.

no problem at all, at least there was a conclusion, too bad about the broken screen, looks like a nice tv otherwise.

Eh, just a basic 42" LCD... if it were a KURO plasma I'd be weeping!
Still a shame, no doubt, hope that it was as-is, not like this after a repair...

Trust me if you are a beginner at repairing tvs stay away from plasmas untill you gain more confidence, lots of things can go on them.

I think plasmas are easier than LCDs. You just need to know what to test. 9 times out of 10 I can fix a plasma by doing five simple voltage checks.

I find the voltage testing and short testing easy just like lcd its just alot more work as the are lots of buffers and sustain boards to test. And if you have a bad y sus repair it and the x sus is also bad it will take out the new y sus just basially alot more work.

Hm, if you say so. A little testing can eliminate that risk. Always use a light-bulb tester when testing plasmas on the Vsus rail.

Bad master-slave inverter can also destroy opposite inverter (had that on a Sharp LC-52XL2E... what a nightmare.)

                                    Hello everyone,

I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the...

                                    Hello everyone.

I have this TV set which has this issue. It shows a vertical bar im the middle of the screen.
The panel has 12 cofs and the problem seems to be on the territory of the first cof on the right side.
The tv fires up and you can see a good picture exept that vertical part where multicoloured pixels exist.
The strange thing there is that you can see behind that snow that it shows picture but as if there are these pixels in front so you cannot see clearly.

The effect is there even on a completely black screen.

                                    The screen...

My Oled Tv is 55inch tv, 3 days ago I notice that middle of the screen is getting warmer and on picture I have ghosting, missing red color. Color red was still displaying, but it was not so strong as corners of the screen and watching some movies makes me angry.
Then I get an idea to take it apart and clean boards from dust.
In side of Tv was not so bad, I take compressed air in can, and gently blow up.

Also I was thinking to styrofoam sponge to isolate power board from screen that the middle of the screen will not worm so much. Because Led on screen when gets higher...

This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

                                    Hi,
                                    I have a VIZIO E70-E3.
Symptoms: Black screen, no picture, but LED backlights are working.
I probed the power board and voltages are as listed on the board.
                                    Main board appears fine, too.
I believe the problem is either a bad T-CON board, or connection to LCD, or bad LCD.
There are two separate ribbon cables feeding the LCD.
If both are connected, the screen is black.

If only the ribbon cable that feeds the right side of the screen (when viewed from the front) is disconnected, the left side of the screen shows picture and...
