TCL 43S423 TCON OR PANEL FAULTY???

Good day, I have a TCL TV: Model 43s423. After turning ON the TV, the ROKU TV logo appears with fine lines over the whole screen, then after a while there are vertical bands in the middle of the screen top to bottom and the TV tries to update its firmware but I do not have the remote to connect it to my new network connection. Also the Power ON light blinks 2 times in quick succession. When I remove the ribbon on the right of the tcon board the left side of the screen shows but with fine lines. If I remove the left side ribbon and connect the right side ribbon the whole screen is blank with no picture. The main chip on the tcon board is very hot that I can touch it for about 3 seconds. All voltages vin, vhg, vhl, vdd, vcom and the ladder resistor voltages are within normal range. The tc1 and tc2 voltages fluctuates from 8v to 30v. If I try to cover the ckv signals on ribbon eg. The right side one, it still comes on with the entire screen showing the logo with fine lines then attempts to update the software. If I apply 12v from my linear power supply, the tcon board draws around 240mA. Also if I disconnect both ribbons from the tcon, the main chip on it gets extremely hot and the Power ON light still gives the two blinks in quick succession. I'm trying to rule out if the panel or the tcon is the problem. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated....regards.

These have panel issues. Likely that's what you have. I've yet to find one with a TCON issue.. but I don't have huge volume like a TV repair shop.

Your response is noted. Thank you. I will start over double checking the tcon board and more importantly looking at the panel board that the COF are connected using datasheets where possible. Will provide an update....cheers

Also the power light blinking.. generally when you get a Roku TV and it's not connected to Internet it will continue to blink that way. Connect it and it'll stop

Mine (TCL 55S425) has similar failure. One failure was TVS which got picture working pretty good other than some horizontal lines. Further tinkering probably caused more COF failure.

On a different TCL 55" model (55S405), I found 2 differnet panel+T-Con manufacturer despite same TV model. You might check your T-Con in case 43" had multiple panel t-con manufacturers.

Sony KD-65A1 Repair – 4 Red Blinks Error
              by AK_777
              Hi everyone!
I have a Sony KD-65A1 TV with a fault – 4 red LED blinks. After disassembly and visual inspection, I found that the G76 power board and DKA board had been replaced. It is also possible that TCON was replaced, but I am not sure – there are a few marker marks that could be factory-made.

Based on assumptions, the previous service attempted to solve the issue by replacing potentially faulty components. I decided to investigate further, found a service manual, and figured out a way to power up the power supply unit autonomously and put the OLED panel and...

Samsung UN65TU8000 - Panel Issue [ hole in ribbon cable ]
              by NWArkGuy
Well, I will be the first to admit that I screwed up...

In attempting to replace the backlight in a UN65TU8000, I made a hole through one of the ribbon cables between the board that runs along the bottom of the back of the TV and the panel. This lead to a between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch vertical stripe running the full height of the image.

I don't have the experience; personally, to solder a bridging wire for the paths that were cut. So, I have been on the hunt for other Samsung TV's of similar size.

I have 2 that I have found and have in my possession. ...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
              by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

Sony KD-65x8500b - bad Tcon or panel?
              by rimwall
Hi, hoping for some views on this one which I've not come across before. The TV generates an image that has 12 noticeable bands across it. The image is still there and accurate, but the colour (or perhaps the brightness) changes gradually across each band which creates a noticeable 'step change' at the edge of each band. Given it's a 4K TV with 2160 rows of pixels, I'm guessing the 12 bands correspond to 12 gate drivers of 180 rows each. If this guess is right, then perhaps:
              a) all the gate drivers are malfunctioning the same way (which seems unlikely), or
              b) the Tcon board is malfunctioning,...
