    Yea, should have clarified that..

That's what I get when I plug the TV in.. Pushing the power button has no effect.. Still reads 166v

wonder if this could be a bridge rectifier issue?

Yes, since this PSU uses Active PFC, the cap voltage will boost (typically to 380-400V)

I seem to remember a problem before similar to this where the MainBoard was the culprit..

maybe try unplug the connector from power supply that has stndby, and measure the stndby pin on power supply in dc mode.

The only standby I could find was 3.3v

Checked the marked pin and it did give me 3.3v at plug in

You can usually check power supply operation by connecting STBY and POWER ON with a small resistor (100 to 470 ohms, 1/4W through hole type)

Yea, Tom's idea might shed light on that. But it will have to wait til I get to the shop.. I have no resistors here at home..

So you are saying that there was no Voltage what so ever when all the boards are connected, and now you do have 3.3VSTBY when the cables are disconnected from the power supply board.

Checking all the pins with the cable connected gives me the 3.3v on standby.. I am guessing when I checked them before I wasn't making contact with the pin, as I was just using the probe tip..

This time around, I used a straight pin hooked to the probe to insure contact...

sounds like the main board isn't turning on the power supply.

BadCaps was down all morning!! Started getting the DTs

OK, the closest resistor I have is a 500ohm... Too big??

And I unplug the connector from the main board side and put the resistor on the connector at the marked pins...

                                          Good Ta Go??

SONY KDL-46R473A ALMOST DEAD NO STB
                                            by bohaboha
Hello to everyone in this wonderful forum.
I have this SONY LCD TV KDL_46R473a
                                            PSU GL5 APS350 :1-888-122- 12
                                            MAINBOARD FY13_EU IP-012C101-4010
black screen ,no STB no life almost death.
on PS all the required volts are present 394V on the main cap and those on cold side 12.41V,3.45 and 3.45 are on
                                            Also 3,5,and 12v are on.
nothing happens if i disconnect the PSU from the mainboard as on Samsung because here i think the mainboard gives the signal to the ps.
don't know what to do next all suggestions and advice are very welcome...

                                            Sony 55W905 dead

                                            Hi,
My Sony W905 started to turn itself off an on every few minutes and blinking 8 times red in standby. A few minutes later the tv was completely dead.
I can only hear the click of the PSU when attaching/detaching the power cable. No standby LED.

                                            Any advice? Thanks!

                                            Hello again lifesavers.

I have a KDL-55W755c that came in dead - not even standby light going on. Tested the power supply - all correct. Tested the output pins on the Led driver board (in which the power cord plugs in) - all seemed fine.
I got a service manual for this model and tested the DC/DC converter by checking voltages on selected components. Every voltage was present where it should be. Service manual says that in this case a "Muffin" replacement is needed. This is the moment where I got stuck as I wasn't able to Google my way through it - till this day I...
