Don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but I have difficulty finding posts which I made or replied to and end up having to view my own posting stats in my profile to find them again. Could it be that those that don't give follow ups, have same difficulty?
unfortunately, even the boss stooge can not make people post follow-ups.....this annoys me to no end as well.
Possible to send an automated email to the thread starter after a period of thread inactivity to ask if their problem was ever resolved and if so could they make sure to post back the resolution and if they did already disregard this email blah blah ?

You have to subscribe to the thread. Click thread tools and you will see the option. And then, if you hover over quick links, you will see "subscribed threads" near the bottom. Click that and you will have a list of all the threads you've subscribed to.
It looks like I have "seniority" here based on join date so far in this thread (except the Boss). As such, this is what I have seen in almost 5 years here that are my pet peeves.
My list.
- no follow-up from OP
- no simple thank you from OP despite resolution results
- no effort to read the stickies, forum rules, guides
- I ask 5 questions to help narrow down the problem and get answers to 2
- people complaining they don't have time to research -> implying that their time is more important and valuable than mine
- people posting pictures that even if I had 20/20 vision there is no hope in hell in seeing anything clearly
- professional TV repair people who ONLY come here to ask questions/get answers and NEVER give back -> you know who you are
- people with poor communications skills and photos complaining why no one is helping
- people complaining the regulars aren't helping fast enough -> that is, their emergency is now our emergency
- people who post, guide me step by step with written instructions, photos and answer my every question because they can't use a search engine or watch a youtube video
- no punctuation, no paragraphs, no periods, no pictures -> no help from me, now some of you know why I NEVER answer your questions
- PMs pleading for helping on topics that have been addressed in well written FAQs, guides, stickies
- people who can't extrapolate -> I have model xyz with 2 seconds to black and I can't find anything, when searching for xyz.a might yield a similar model
- seeing regulars get abused by idiots with unrealistic expectations -> which I report
- people writing very shocking things not knowing they are insulting a lot of us -> racism, ignorance, name-calling, etc
No, I'm not mad or burnt out and these problems are in everyday life, not just online forums.
I'm just making smarter decisions where I spend my online time and what I want to learn. I still participate here if people can manage to stay off the list above! ;-)
If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.
We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.
Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.
i was wondering when this subject would pop up!,yes i agree with you all, period!
it reminds me of the ones who just sign up here,or on other forums to get radio codes, and then just vanish with no thanks, zilcho!
i still like to help people on here as much as my ability can handle and will do so always, low posts = no help im afraid, cuts out the seeders...
i made a pact with myself to help the ones with at least a few hundred posts on there profile, and to the ones that can be botherd to put up good quality pictures, instead of ,"my tv is broke, whats wrong with it?"brigade.
i find looking at the amount of posts on there profile is an indicator that they could be around here for a while and thats good!,then im willing to help, and there willing to learn, and it helps to top up my knowledge also, and that im grateful for.
i sort of dropped the hint in my profile SIG ,a year or so ago,it never worked...
fixed so far...376 lg lcd tv's,24 onn tv;s,24 panasonic lcd,16 jvc lcd,12 marshall jcm800 amps, refurb of various disco equipment lighting, old style disco decks ,and a flymo!
----------------------------------------------
please let us know if everything works ok if your tv gets fixed, as it will be and aid for anyone else having the same problem and wishing to fix it.it would save people clogging up this site with topics that are duplicated, and can be found easily using the search function.,and taking up valuable space.enjoy your fixed tv!,hopefully!

Excellent list Retiredcaps, and why can't the ops put the type of tv, right there in the title, led, lcd, plasma, I know sometimes you can tell if it's a plasma if you see a p at the start but a lot of times, I have to start helping by copying and doing a google search, just to find out the type of tv. not all posters do that but a good many do.
your right, you can tell when people aren't trying to help you help them, like the other day, a thread I was reading, the op got rude and said just tell me which board it is, I chimed in with, "just a second, let me get out my crystal ball", afraid I wouldn't have helped that poster, even if I knew exactly what was wrong. I know some folks are slow learners, myself included, but you can tell when the effort isn't there.
Such people are lacking in social graces, which is something we are supposed to learn growing up. Unfortunately there are a significant number of immature people who haven't learned basic manners and are going to be rude no matter what when they don't get what they want immediately.
I don't think our responses to them are rude, we are just trying to point out a problem. That's how I try to look at it anyway. If we toss out a humorous magic 8-ball or crystal ball reply the intent is to draw attention to their problem so they can hopefully focus on it and grow up.

I agree with all the above.
Though, there are exceptions too.
Like when you are working on something and you put it away for a while.
I have some projects like that, myself too.
Like now, I have a Pioneer home theater receiver, that I'm getting help, from another forum for example.
Or, I have an Infinity car amp, that I have got frustrated and I have put it away for a while.
I have repaired a 65" Sharp TV, but I need diffuser sheets, so I'm waiting to find some.
