Re: Hisense 55k610gwn service manual wanted
Reviving this as my kid decided to take this project on with me so she got the back off. Here is a pic of the power board. Does not power on. The fuse is ok. Nothing appears fried. I have no schematic. Where to start troubleshooting?
TIA
Steve

Re: Hisense 55k610gwn service manual wanted
Thanks Bud.
They don't appear to have a manual/schematic. I saw some other models service manuals free online and was being hopeful.
I know I'm getting ahead of myself, sorry. I've been out of the game with electronics project with illness for some time.
I don't know what the TV does yet, it is drying cuz it's been out by a dumpster and got rained on. I'll give it a day or two to dry out, it didn't get soaked in a heavy rain and was in a box so I think that'll be long enough. Have no remote eithe...

Hisense 55k610gwn service manual wanted
Title says it. I've had no luck finding so far and would rather have the manual or at least schematics for this dumpster find before I even bother testing it.
Thanks guys

Apparently the real world isn't scary enough for some folks and they feel some twisted need to make shit up to scare themselves and others with. There's a reason why evidence is required in order to accuse someone of crime.

Re: WinXP Sp 4?
I didn't say give up on XP. I said give up trying to pass off post-sp3 updates as "SP4" cuz it isn't SP4....

Re: WinXP Sp 4?
Still useless to the OP and still no XP SP4, is there? There's not even a straightforward way to get and utilize all the post SP3 updates, is there? Come on. Give it up already. Nobody wants to follow all that crap. You might want to consider this; quit trying to prove a non-existent point.

Re: WinXP Sp 4?
ryanvm.net is totally useless, returns a single link to page not found. msfn.org can get you to the post SP3 updates if you specifically search for it, so it's basically a useless link by itself too, and certainly does not warrant the "FTW!" crap. You don't win anything and I repeat, it is NOT SP4!
With some (non-newbie) effort you can download and create your own slipstream with all post XP SP3 updates included with SP3 but it is NOT SP4 because SP4 does NOT exist and people should stop calling it...

Re: WinXP Sp 4?
There is no official Service Pack 4 for XP, the so-called "unofficial XP SP4" update is not a service pack released by Microsoft, it is supposedly a collection of post SP1 updates in one package, but good luck finding it and I hope you don't get a trojan or other malware in the process.

Re: The ghetto mod thread
I've seen that on a few boards as well back in the 80s. Not limited to any particular brand as I recall, it was just done and if it worked then it was left alone. Shitty practice but it happened....

Re: ESR meter upgrades
Thanks man.
I suppose I'd use 10-20nF and just TP1 + TP3 just in case, not like it's a big deal, just my curiosity and wanting precise info. I do have some used inductors I've not been able to measure and maybe this new development will help.
Have you got a good source for a 10ppm 16MHz xtal yet? I might go for that soon. It's gotta be surface mount right?

Re: ESR meter upgrades
The readme says:
-
you also need a good stable capacitor between 10 and 30nF to calibrate the new small inductor mode.
if you dont have one, just ignore the cal message till it times-out
to test small inductors you MUST connect the small cap used to calibrate the unit in parallel with the inductor.
----------------------
SamplingADC is now enabled by default. The calibration procedure asks
for a capacitor for L-measurement with the message "Cap for L meas?".
You should use a capacitor value...

Re: ESR good vs bad
It's fine for that type of capacitor. Those are not high temp, low ESR caps as what is needed for SMPS applications, and although they are marketed as audio caps they're basically general purpose capacitors. Typical ESR range for general purpose caps 100uF @ 16v is 0.7 to 1.6 ohms according to a couple of reference charts.

Re: ESR meter upgrades
There is a difference between freq stability and freq tolerance. 10ppm tolerance doesn't mean 10ppm stability. I've seen some say 10ppm tolerance with 30ppm stability. I presume stability relates to operating temperature?
I'm not sure how much it's gonna matter for the tester though. What are your thoughts? What are you looking for? Curious Steve here ...

Re: ESR meter upgrades
I'd like a bit of clarity on the serial port. Is that for adding a USB port or? I'm just curious. I recall some earlier versions of the TTester had USB possible. How was that used with a PC? Is it not useful at all in this one yet or just not moving ahead?
I'm not progressing past SVN630 for the time being, I'm in a wait and see mode.
What quality of 16MHz xtal is needed? I haven't seen anything below 30ppm accuracy available online.

Re: Need Help with this Circuit Please
Perhaps some leaky (electrically leaky, not physically) DC blocking caps north of or in the reverb unit.

Re: Achtung! High Voltage!
I learned an awful about about safety in the Navy and for all the right reasons; survival of the person and the equipment. Plus it really pisses the Navy off when they have damaged or lost either, and there is no such thing as an unavoidable accident in the Navy. They can ALL be prevented somehow and usually by being careful. The only time a sailor is allowed lose control is on liberty call and that's why they have Shore Patrol out there with them.

Ohm's law says 12.96 watts. A 1/4w ain't gonna cut it.Last edited by SteveNielsen; 02-09-2016, 09:11 PM.
