Hi guys. I currently have one of these sets that was blowing the fuse. Replaced Q601 and Q602 as well as 2 zener diodes and set still wouldnt turn on. Traced it back to a shorted component in the secondary(D631 smd) and noticed this diode has high voltage and current capability. I would like to know what probably caused this and what can be done to keep this set running. No need to waste time repairing it to go down in other 6 months. Suggestions on modifying this board are appreciated.

Re: Emerson lc220em2 blows fuse
This failure scenario seems to be common a diode in the secondary shorts then the primary drives current into the short until it fails as well. Not sure if the diodes they use are underrated or just poor quality, I usually replace them with a higher rated version. The most common diode I have seen fail is a 2 amp (100v I think) I usually replace it with a 3 amp 200v schottky.Liberating magic smoke one part at a timeComment

Re: Emerson lc220em2 blows fuse
Thanks Caleb. Everybody talks about those funai power boards being poor quality. I already ordered a 2 amp from mouser but i will try that on the next one. A big box store that we all know has a 40 inch advertised on black friday for a little over $100. I am quite sure the phone will be ringing off the hook 6 months later. Lol.Comment

Re: Emerson lc220em2 blows fuse
I fixed one last spring that lasted only 3 months, not sure why they didn't take it back for warranty repair. But yes I am looking forward to a good storm this winter that will bring a myriad of flatscreens into the recycle yard.Liberating magic smoke one part at a timeComment

Re: Emerson lc220em2 blows fuse
Make sure to check ALL the diodes on that board, the inverter MOSFETs, and the Transistors in the primary side.
Lots of parts in the primary side get wiped out when the secondary side has shorted circuit.Last edited by budm; 05-18-2016, 11:18 AM.Never stop learning

Re: Emerson lc220em2 blows fuse
OK, so it looks like TK7A50D is the part number. That is not what I put in that spot. I will have to order some. Thanks a lot. I replaced some of the other parts already. but Q601 was missing entirely. I just checked over the board again and I think I got everything. Now I just have to wait for Q601 to be delivered.
Thank you.Comment

Re: Emerson lc220em2 blows fuse
Forgive me for not knowing but, I'm pretty new to the game. Which is the primary side and which is the secondary? Also, where do I go about buying the diodes to replace the bad ones? Is there a generic version of the zener diode or does it need to be an exact replacement? Is there somewhere I can learn this stuff? Thanks.Comment

Hi, I'll start by saying that I'm not an expert and I've reached a point where I don't know what to try/do anymore...
Starting from the beginning: I opened this subwoofer for the first time with a very strong smell of burnt electrical components, I realize that on the amplifier board there is a hole between V+ OUT and GND about the size of a finger, the damaged components were the shorted mosfets, two damaged zener diodes and two capacitors. I bought everything, I fixed the hole by cutting the pcb and putting a piece of a perforated board.
I had no problems connecting mosfets and capacitors,...-

by corrizeHello, I disassembled this dead camera, and found this WTF… Two fuses soldered one above the other !
I was pretty sure nobody touched it before, but that can't be from factory. There is flux, and capacitor is probably missing.
The other weird thing : the fuses are « G » fuse : (0.75A – 8V), seems very low. The original fuse should be « O » : (32V 2,5A).
There is « O » mark beside. All fuses have the same mark letter on main board. So, I can deduce it's a « O » fuse.
And this correspond to the issus I saw : when I plug the battery, I measure the voltage dropping... -

I have a 60LN5400 that came in.. Backlights work fine.. No display..

Replaced the fuse.. Blows again.. Replaced the fuse again... This time it fries the marked part on the Main Video board...
Got a new Main Video Board.. Replaced the fuse on the TCON..

by dimis7Hi all,
Need some advice to troubleshoot this TV.
PSU blow the main fuse F100, 3.15A.
I replace the fuse with another 3A (but not ceramic) and blows it again after few seconds when i plugged in to the wall, with nothing connected to PSU, just the power cord.
I checked with DMM for dead sorts but didn't found any.
Checked bridge rectifier and seems ok.
Also check main filter cap with transistor / cap / esr tester (the usual cheap transistor testers from ebay) and found ok.
PSU p/n is EAX64405901 (1.6)... -
by asrHello, I am looking for help to replace a damaged diode. The tristar was replaced and a diode was damaged in the process. I have a picture of the diode but dont have an exact donor. I mostly have macbooks for donors and only a few ipad and iphone boards. Diode part number: DSF01S30SCAP
Im not sure where to find the ipad board number. Anybody have an idea where else this diode is used on other boards? Thanks.... - Loading...
