  • Re: Samsung UN46D6050 No power, blinking led twice

it sounds like you are well on your way to fixing your set, I located the power supply schematic and a service manual for a very similar model, I couldnt find that exact model. Hope this will help you along....

  • Re: Parts: What do you keep on hand?

1/4 watt resistors of every imaginable value, 1000uf 470uf 2200uf caps in 25v and 35v, zener diode kits in 1/4 watt, 1/2 watt and 1 watt, 1n4148 diodes, 1n4007 diodes, fuses in several values. Then when I order parts for a specific set I usually order several extras of each thing. Some models have the same failures on every set (like the 98$ emerson from walmart) I usually get enough to fix 5 before I have to reorder parts. Plus something on the order of 100 broken screen sets i have accumulated.

Im not sure on that, I try to error on the side of caution and say probably not. Budm would might have better insight into whether it would be a safe bodge or not

Common trouble on this set is u33 on main, you can test and verify it has input voltage and see if it is outputting the 2.5v for the backlights to turn on

  • Re: TV keeps blowing fuses !

I place a 100 watt light bulb across fuse connection and see what gets hot, you have a major short somewhere. I had one last year that ended up being the primary filter cap but would only fail short under voltage.

  • Re: Panasonic 50VT30 , Blinking 7 times.

@malachi yep first try, but not the first try on Panasonics probably spent 3 hours on the first one I did.
@moreno, it looks like I will be able to test that measurement as it decided to blow up over the weekend again, so I will be opening it up again fairly soon.
@mhmohlere as I recall the a board is the one responsible for the blink codes and while it would be unusual it could be something on the a board can we see some close up pictures of the smudge? also put the screws in and see if it continues?

moreno have to agree with you I missed the part about "works for a while" = no major shorts. Ive got a 2007 panasonic with a similar issue that Ive yet to track down, sometimes it works for days, I think it is likely a connection going open with heat, cracked joint or trace somewhere.

Unfortunately I buttoned this one back up and it is back in the living room at its owners so no TPVsus measurement.

  • Re: Panasonic 50VT30 , Blinking 7 times.

I went through that tpna5335 several times and couldnt find any other faults, so I plugged it back in along with the buffers and everything works. Hopefully it wont have any premature failures. On a side note this was the first time I got all the ribbons aligned correctly on the first try

@mhmohlere have you tested the ss for shorted igbts? Also test your replacement boards for shorts? ShopJimmy is usually pretty good about it but it doesnt mean you didnt get a bad one. If you follow the testing sequence you may be able...

  • Re: Kent TR36 Golf cart charger

Mxslick I think most of the black stuff on the transformer is carbon from the triac exploding.

Budm as you suspected I got the part in last night and the gate isnt triggering, I will have to figure out the proper gate resistor, I got the sanrex replacement with the smaller gate current. With everything tied together I am only getting 1.2v to the gate. Ran out of time last night was working on another plasma board too.

  • Re: Panasonic 50VT30 , Blinking 7 times.

Ive been working on a 55vt30 that uses this same tnpa5335. It had the "normal" shorted igbt and diode from loose screws, I also replaced ic502 and q531 as they came in the kit and one of the gate resistors (for igbt) was open. Are there any other suspects on this board? Really hoping for a successful power up but going over the board another time or two to try and make sure I didn't miss anything....

  • Re: RCA 42" RLDEDV3988-a flickering video

@Bufferb, sadly a lot of folks come here and receive help for their repair and never return to let us know if it was fixed and where the trouble was. As budm said we can narrow down the suspects with some pictures if you would be so kind to post them. The pictures on the original post are far too blurry to be of use, There only appears to be one combined power/ av board. The Op discovered the bad resistor when testing the led power source so the trouble is likely to be very near there.

  • Re: Kent TR36 Golf cart charger

Thanks I ordered a 35 amp, and will give it some heatsink paste when I put it back in. In theory it should be capable of 4200 watts/ 36v=116 amps, I dont think it outputs that many watts. At least if I know what the heck it is I can upgrade it later.

  • Re: Kent TR36 Golf cart charger

That is looking very promising there are no other markings I can find, they could have been on the piece that was blown off. Any idea how many amps this thing would need? it has a 15 amp fuse would I be safe with a 25 amp version? Or should I go higher? bridge rectifier tests good, will ohm out the moc3011

edit, i just found the 35 amp version pretty cheap would that be suitable?
moc3011 is testing ok no continuity between triac and diode junction is ok

  • Re: Kent TR36 Golf cart charger

@ stj it says "mexico" and appears to be a solid state device of some sort. initially I thought a diode package but looking at how the circuit seems to work it seems more likely to be a relay. For Budm pictures attached

White and black wires are tied into the amp meter, red go to timer just seem to be missing that unknown component to make it work again...

  • Kent TR36 Golf cart charger

Hi guys, was trying to get this back up and running for a friend. There appears to be some sort of relay that is blown apart, on one leg of the red wires is 128vac, on the black wire is 1.8vac the second red wire has no voltage, both red wires tie into a timer to set hours for charging. Any ideas what the burnt to a crisp part might be?...

  • Re: component id fuse or not?

Ok glad I asked, learn something new everyday. It had lots of corrosion inside the pictures are after extensive cleaning. Still got nothing out of it after cleaning, it might be a lost cause as I just bought a working one off fleabay for 26$. Ill still keep it around for parts if I cant get it going again. Thanks for your insights

  • component id fuse or not?

Hi everyone, attempting to bring this flash back to life from what appears to have been a drowning. This component appears to be a 5 amp ceramic fuse, but I am puzzled as to its location. It doesn't appear anything in this location has bus lines to the battery. Before I slap a new fuse in there and attempt to let out the magic smoke I thought it would be prudent to verify its really a fuse and not a ceramic cap.
It says 5.00 with a logo of C surrounding M followed by K....

  • Re: Panasonic TH42PZ80-B Lightning Victim

Usually lightning kills the A board as it travels down the catv wire, typically the hdmi chip. if you look at the qfp chip just above the vga connector it looks like it might have a pinhole blown in it at the "a" in panasonic. It could just be a dark spot hard to tell without a macro shot of it. Im not terribly familiar with this model but most plasmas have a test jumper on the control board that will light up the tv with test patterns without the mainboard tied in. Hopefully Tom66 or tw2005 will chime in as they are most familiar...

  • Re: Insignia NS-LCD47HD-09 no picture

You can put a low value resistor (under 10 ohms 1/4watt) across to test and see if the lights come on, not a good idea to short it in case there is a short beyond a switched connection.

You can test (in ohms) from the side that gets no voltage to ground and reply back.

Sometimes fuses fatigue over time and there is no fault just an open connection. If the ohm reading is in kohms you probably just have a failed fuse, if its in tens or hundreds of ohms you have a fault that blew the fuse.

btw sorry budm you replied as I was typing : )
