Re: WFCO Camper Converter need help understanding KA3846 SMPS Controller
Wow, this is a lot of information. I was told the new IC were made because the originals were defective and discontinued but as long as we get these units up and running is all that matters. And I assume the IC gets weak over time.
I don't remember if I was able to read the PIC firmware or not, that was some time ago. If anyone feels it to be necessary I'll give it a try.
Those BIG resistor solder joints break loose mainly because they use lead free solder which has no flex to it and...

Re: WFCO Camper Converter need help understanding KA3846 SMPS Controller
I repaired about 50 or so of these converters and in my experience they are faulty and need to be replaced with the new version. The originals have a fault that causes them to overload and it's best to replace it before it fails.

Re: WFCO Camper Converter need help understanding KA3846 SMPS Controller
All the capacitors around that resistor got too hot and need to be replaced. You need to test the mosfets on the large heat sink, if they are bad then the KA3846 needs to be replaced. But the KA3846 was discontinued because it has problems and replaced with UC3846 so I would replace it anyway. I never solder these chips to the board, I always use a IC Socket and then I plug the chip in.

Re: Toshiba 55HT1U - Backlight inverter board failure fix?
Johnny, I found your YouTube page. I left this same comment.
I say don't use a wire harness at all, just remove the harness and add thicker wires soldering them right to the board. Avoid loose connections by just soldering wires to the board. That's what I'm going to do....

Re: WFCO Camper Converter need help understanding KA3846 SMPS Controller
You have bad capacitors causing the problem. Can you send me pictures so I can tell you which capacitors to change?
If the KA3846 goes bad the unit will blow up so you have bad capacitors.
All the capacitors within 1 inch of the 2 white resistors need to be changed except for the 2 BIG ones, only replace those if they are bulging. If your unit looks like my pictures then change the same capacitors. The heat from the resistors destroys those capacitors.Last edited by Shane711; 10-27-2020, 01:40 PM.

Re: Vizio VW42L HDTV10A no picture or sound
I seen that video before, all my regulators are fine. The TV plays for 20 to 30 minutes before it turns off.
So I swapped out the power board and the TV has been playing non stop 24 hours a day for 2 days now so that tells me most definitely the power board. I been waiting before posting an update because just seeing if the TV would cut off but after 2 days I guess that is conclusive.
So I order 10 pieces of the IC DLA001D from China. I also have 3 other power boards that are completely dead and they all have...Last edited by Shane711; 10-25-2020, 04:34 PM.

I suspect an IC chip part # DLA001D on the power board.

Yes, I repaired those a while back. Working on the TV today, still haven't figured it out. Going to try swapping boards to identify the problem board.

I found Capacitor C242 bad on my power board. I'll have to change it out tomorrow and see if it makes a difference.

Re: Vizio VW42L HDTV10A no picture or sound
I was working on a Vizio VW42L and all the regulators are good. The TV would turn on with no picture. So I replaced the capacitor CE27 but also CE18 & CE23. I also noticed CE21 & CE43 had bulging tops so I tested those and they were completely fried so I replaced them
I put the TV back together and it worked for 30 minutes and then the Vizio light was blinking rapidly and I could not power off the TV. I switch with another main board and same thing so I suspect it's the power supply.
No visual blown caps....

Re: LG 60PV250 - Erratic shut off
These posts are a little old but I can guarantee that the TV turning off into stand-by mode is most defiantly the power supply board. In most cases the TV will stay on if there is no input signal and as soon as you try to play a movie or device the TV turns off. Switching out the power fixes the issue but I have 4 of these TVs so I have at least 1 power board I will attempt to repair.

Re: Eeprom dump thread!
Is there a way to prevent the Eeprom from going bad? I am guessing they do not over heat so what is the cause other than static or a power surge?

Samsung HP-S5053 distorted pixels. Bad Panel?
So I got this Samsung HP-S5053 and I am guessing the screen/panel is bad. Everything else seems to be working perfect. Here are some pictures...

Re: Sharp LC-55LE653U Firmware
It may be too big. And the USB has to be of good quality.

Re: Sharp LC-55LE653U Firmware
Try a different USB drive. I believe it has to be 1 GB or 2 GB. A bigger one will not work.
