Order placed. Should know by the end of the weekend if this was the proper fix!

The TV has been assembled and is working perfectly!

Thank you, Budm! It was very awesome of you to lend your expertise to someone you don't even know.

        Thanks so much!

Re: VIZIO E320-A1... Gets power but no picture

Hi guys, I am new here, this is my first post. I have a Vizio E320-A1 with the same problem. The power light comes on when the TV is plugged in. I cannot turn it off with the remote or the button on the face of the unit. Black screen, no picture, no sound. I read this post and tested it with the same procedure. These are my results.

            Capacitor C9810 = 170vdc

            Connector CN9902 vdc
            ON OFF
            1- NC
            2- 5.19 5.18
            3- 5.19 5.18
            4- 5.16 0.09
            5- 11.80 12.06
            6- 11.80 12.06
            7- GND
            8- GND
            9- GND
            10- 11.80 12.06
            11- 11.80 12.06
            12- 0.09 0.03
            13- 0.05 0.03

My Power Card is Part Number DL621XX04Q, my Main Board is TXDCB02K030002Q

On the main Board I only see EPROM U402 and U408. Shopjimmy only lists EPROM U403 and U409.

With my symptoms and test results, would it be safe to assume it is an EPROM problem? I would probably just order the main board from Shopjimmy, I do not feel comfortable enough to change the EPROM, too small for me to see well enough.

Anything else I need to check?

            Thank you in advance,
            Ed

Re: VIZIO E320-A1... Gets power but no picture

I have a Vizio E320-B0. I am not seeing a lot on the forum about this specific model and wondering if it is the same as A0? I too am having a power problem, but I don't get a light or anything on my set. It was on and working, then went off. I get power thru the cord and to the power board and that's as far as I went other than testing fuse.

Forgot to mention. My power board is a 0500-0614-0400 and my main board is a 3632-2492-0150. Any help in testing to determine what needs to be replaced is appreciated!!

Please start a new thread with model E320-B0.
Also post good clear pictures of the board, we will start checking the Voltages of the power supply board first.

Re: VIZIO E320-A1... Gets power but no picture

Hello. Very helpful forum and thread! I was also able to diagnose and fix the bad EEPROM problem with my Vizio E320-A1 TV following the thread info. In my case the problem was intermittent. The backlighting would not properly power-up maybe 50% of the time. Would unplug the TV for 20 sec, then wait another 20 sec after applying AC power before cycling the Power button. Eventually it would power-up OK. My TV is used with a cable converter box and the cable box must be disconnected or off for the power cycle trick to work. I suspect voltage is being back-fed thru the HDMI input into the TV causing the uP to stay "half-alive", something I've seen in other poorly designed uP controlled units with USB ports. Measuring pin voltages on the power supply board connector in both off & on states is a good test and confirmed the problem (pins 12&13). Ordered a replacement EEPROM from ShopJimmy and installed. Note that they sell several EEPROMs for the E320-A1 model so make sure you match your specific pc board part number. Also, the EEPROM is under the metal shield cover that also covers the uP. It must carefully be removed. It's not a hard swap if you follow good surface mount IC repair techniques. Thanks to BadCaps.net for the good advice.

                        Budm,

Does anyone have an idea what causes this EEPROM to fail in so many TVs? Is it the part just failing or is it loosing its programming and if so why? What prevents the same failure from occurring again?

                        Thanks kindly,

                        Dave

Hi everyone, if anyone is still here. I have the same exact issue as p2computing, as I have a Vizio E320-A1 and the same symptoms. I have checked the pins as previously instructed and came up with the same voltages, and had 0 Volts on pins 12 and 13. So my question would be how do I know which EEPROM is the culprit? P2computing said his was fixed with the replacement of U409, but shphillips said that its under the metal shield. I am just confused as I havent removed the shield yet and I am looking for guidance.

Hello everyone. This is a great forum. I am by no means an expert but willing to learn how to troubleshoot this with some guidance. I have a somewhat similar issue. TV powers on. I do not get a picture but half of my screen has vertical lines. Based on what I've read, this could be a problem with the mainboard and not the power supply. How do I diagnose this? I hope it's not the actual LED screen.

I've reseated both ribbon cables on the t-con board. The issue is still the same.

Hello, i am working on Vizio M70-C3. It can hardly power on, it takes 15 power button presses or remote. Seems like eeprom problem that I seen before but all reading online says that this tv has power board or main board problem.

When tv powers on vizio V logo shows nice on whole screen. picture 1
When it goes into tv mode it only shows good picture on left side of screen, right is all scrabbled up. pic 2

Vizio M65-E0 No Picture, No Sound
                                      by ggil44
Hi I inherited a Vizio M65-E0 that isn't working. It must have been dropped on the corner because I found that the infrared circuit had a capacitor with one end broken off of the board and some green corrosion around the plug to the main board. I re-soldered the capacitor and cleaned the corrosion well and tried turning the M65-E0 on and I was successful. My problem is that while the back lights come on and appear to perform local dimming there is no picture or sound. It kind of looks like you are looking at the TV through a very dense fog, where changing the input on the remote will change bright...

                                      HI all,
hope someone point to the possible issue before I start buying replacement parts.
Tv starts normal and responds to remote fine, PSU voltages mesured fine 19v was 18.9V under load and 19V with main board disconnected.
Backlight stays on all the time,
                                      Sound works fine.
screen keeps changing form black to full picture in about 1sec intervals.
Picture looks fine with no visible artifacts.
I have disconnected backlights and flashlight test confirmed that picture is still doing the same.

VIZIO E70-E3 Half picture with half TCON
                                      by Fly_Among_Stars
                                      Hi,
                                      I have a VIZIO E70-E3.
Symptoms: Black screen, no picture, but LED backlights are working.
I probed the power board and voltages are as listed on the board.
                                      Main board appears fine, too.
I believe the problem is either a bad T-CON board, or connection to LCD, or bad LCD.
There are two separate ribbon cables feeding the LCD.
If both are connected, the screen is black.

If only the ribbon cable that feeds the right side of the screen (when viewed from the front) is disconnected, the left side of the screen shows picture and...

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)

Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

                                      Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

                                      First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...
