I'm having a issue with a Vizio E550VL. Wondering if I could get some advice? I'm trying to decide what needs to be replaced. I'm thinking the back light inverter or main board. When the TV is on the display is hard to see. It is dark especially towards the center. You can barely see the writing in the center. If I go to the menu and reset the TV to factory settings it displays perfect on the whole screen for a few minutes then, slowly starts to fade and darken. Any advice would be great. I am new to this sight and hope it is ok to to post on this thread. I have an old CRT in my house so, it would be great if I can get this TV working correctly. Thank you for any help. When I can I will open the back and take pictures.

Re: Vizio E550VL screen fades
This is a TC-P50S1. 7 blinking red lights, if I disconnect the SC board I get 6 blinking lights. If instead I disconnect the board on the opposite side(can't remember what it is called) I still get 7 blinking lights. I also tried disconnecting the upper and lower boards connected to the SC board but, this did not make a difference so, I believe the SC board is my problem. It has the glued on heat sinks so, I can't see if anything is blown. Everything visible looks fine. I can't seem to find a price under $130 for a board. Any suggestions where to get cheap parts? -
Re: Vizio E550VL screen fades
Your Vizio sounds like the main board, if it was trouble in the inverters the reset wouldn't do any good. Its too bad you are all the way on the other side of the country Ive been looking for a screen for an E550VL.Liberating magic smoke one part at a timeComment

Re: Vizio E550VL screen fades
The fact that the menu works fine then fades seems to prove the inverters and back lighting are working. I agree that it is the main board but without the schematic if front of me I am unable to tell you what to test on the main board itself.Comment

Re: Vizio E550VL screen fades
You could try freeze spray on different portions of the main board to see if you could get it to come back from the fade. It sounds as if it might be heat related as it gradually fades away. You can use canned air held upside down for freeze spray. Also have you tried all the inputs? and are they all the same?Last edited by Caleb; 09-25-2013, 09:20 AM.Liberating magic smoke one part at a timeComment

Re: Vizio E550VL screen fades
I repaired one of these it was the main board, I started with reflow of the two ic under the large heat sinks. the tv was fine for 3-4 hrs then messed up again , turned it off then it would repeat, replaced it & it was good to go.Comment

by spice_discI'm currently trying to diagnose and fix my Vizio TV (Model M50-C1). I've tried a number of different basic solutions, but I'm trying to determine if my issue is currently a failing panel, T-Con board, or main board (or something else entirely) and whether or not it is worth my time to fix it. Details of the issue and what I've tried are below as well as why I think it is either a bad panel, T-Con board, or main board.
The Issue: The TV will be on and working fine but after the TV is on for ~5-10 minutes the screen will freeze (with sound continuing) until the TV reboots itself. While...1 Photo -
by Ryan.manHello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!
My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.
This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen... -
by smic717394Hi,
I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on... -
by paqmanSo our beloved M60-C3 up and died the other day. I was not there, my wife mentioned that it came on, displayed the logo, then showed the right half of the screen white and fuzzy, with the left half of the screen ok. However when I got around to looking at it, the screen would not come on at all. The indicator LED will come on, then dim a bit. After a while, the LED might blink a bunch of times. I can't get it to be consistent to do that.
So I've got the back off and am checking voltages. The capacitors on the power supply board visually check out. No bulges or anything. They all show... -
by ChrissygizmoHello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same... - Loading...
