Re: Sony KDL-46EX400 2 blink error code

Need to look at the circuit diagram of the latching circuit since it receives 3 signals (excessive 12v, excessive PFC voltage, excessive temperature) which any one of them can trip the circuit. It is a matter of finding out which one is tripping or the latching circuit may be at fault itself, this is where the diagram comes into play to narrow down the cause of the problem. You can disable one of the 3 signal at a time to find out which one is sending that signal to the latching circuit.

I know I found the training manual but I do not remember fi you or I find the service manual for it or not, do you remember? It is a long thread and I just do not have the time to look through the whole thread again.

OK, I will have to down load the service manual tonight:

I have just made an offer on Ebay for a mainboard($70). The TV has a broken screen, pictured in the ad and he is only a couple miles away from me, in Burbank.

Re: Sony KDL-46EX400 2 blink error code

Picked up the board from the seller's store and installed it and it worked since Saturday. Let's hope that I won't have any issues from now on.
Most likely, the other mainboards were bad boards.
                Thank you for the help.
Now, I need to go back to the LED LG 42LV3500 with the restarting issue? Any pointers?
I'm thinking, that I should pick up a mainboard for that too.

Should I take all the voltages from the PS connector?

Yes, we need to see the 12V, 24V and the PFC voltages, from you have posted, they are not at extreme level at all, this will tell us if the detection circuit is at fault or not. The more info you have the better. You might as well take some reading on the inverter board also like the LD, FB. The power supply board: BL_ERR, INV_ERR etc.
Take the reading when TV is off and when TV is on.

One thing that I have noticed with the bad board that the T_Con ON voltage it was almost missing(0.014V), this voltage should have started up the T_Con 12V to supply the T_Con.
In my opinion, there it was the problem.

I just got one of these things in
Thanks for all the research you guys have done thus far
but I have a delemma wether to invest anything in this or not
                          its a 2 blinker KDL46EX500
after looking at your schematics I got to power board to give me everything but backlight
the BL on from the main board is low all the time
but if i open it and provide my own 3.3v it still does not turen the BL on
the TCON on never goes high
but if i short the transistor as you stated it does put out tcon 12v
now here is the delemma since the power board should be able to produce a BL with BL on going high ....
I have nothing not even trying
the power board must be bad in this area
but the main board wont tell the BL to turn either or the tcon but it does tell the rest of the board to run audio 12 12v etc ...so it looks like i have a bad power board and a bad main do you agree
?? or does the power board need something else to fire HV for the BL?
                          dimmer???

Did you try forcing the power supply, to turn on with resistors from standby voltage to PS_ON and another one to the BL?
This way, you can see if the voltages are there and the backlight is working or not.

I have same tv as anthonystv KDL46ex500. Tried the resistor 1k resistor between Stb3.3 and Power On and I'm not getting any 12v. My readings are all 0 except the Stb, Power on and Ac_off_det that read 3.3v. Any suggestions? Thank you

Check BAL board on up side behind cooling frame, Fuse F3703 smd 3,15 A blowed.
When it`s defective check also the little capacitor between fuse and ground. Most of the time is shorted. Removing the capacitor and replace the fuse and the TV is back working.

                                See picture:

I hope this will work. Also when the TV is not give any error but the green led is working check the same positions.

For anyone interested just repaired this Sony Main board TV that had a 2 blink error code, the chassis is a RB2G which is common to quite a few different Sony models. The Ceramic 10uF 25V X7R 1206 capacitor C9114 was shorted which took the smd 2A 0603 fuse out F9101. This was powering the Buck converter TPS54332 which caused no 5V output from it.
See the attached picture of the locations of both components. I also attach the best service manual I found for this board for anyone else in a similar position of trying to repair this main board. It's not specific to the TV model however it gives...

                                    Hello badcaps forum.

I have a Sony KDL-52Z4500 TV that needs a little trouble shooting. History of the TV: I bought it about 14 years ago. One year ago, I took it off the wall to move to another house. During the past year it sat in its original packaging - even with the thin film plastic bag/cover that it gets shipped in, cardboard box and all. Last week I unpacked it to mount it in the garage for my wife's gym that she has setup. Turned it on, set up a chormecast on it for her, and all was good for a week running like always (brownie points for me from the wife ).

Another eazybone post took on this OLED now.

Symptoms. Hit power, white light shows briefly and then 5 blink red code. TCON issue per chart on first picture.

I'm thinking I have a power board issue though, which is one of the options

Now to check pin voltages from PSU to main and PSU to tcon

1 tcon on 12 -- 0v (when I hit power this goes to 3.1 stays for short time and back to zero)
                                    2 bl err -- 0.16
                                    3 evdd on --0
                                    4. Ac off det 3.187
5 power on -- 3.362 BUT fluctuating randomly to 3.352

Panasonic ZT60 plasma tv with strange behavior and 8 blink code
                                    by cloo
I recently got my hands on a 60" Panasonic P60ZT60 plasma tv (european model) that has some strange issues along with an 8 blink code.
It know this tv is getting old but it was once considered one of the best plasmas ever made, and i think it is still holds on to that even by todays standards.

So, long story short. When i first got the tv it had a very bright washed out picture with very raised blacks in all picture modes and i couldn't find the cause in the picture setting menus.
After doing a factory reset this problem was gone and the picture was back to...
