Replaced T-con board and now getting vertical lines

I have a Sony bravia KDL46VL160, first problem was a blank screen with sound.

When bought and replaced the t-con board, coloured vertical lines are as shown in the picture

What do you all think is the problem ?

Was the T-con an exact match?

Did you match the P/N on the barcode, not as printed on the board.

do you think i got a faulty t-con board ?

or is it possible that the tv has a faulty panel or main board ?

I would suspect the T-con in this case.

Do you mean you originally had:
- a blank screen (lit up)
- vertical lines?

i originally had vertical lines with audio, but same results after replacing TCON!
Please help!

You may have a main board or panel fault then.

changed the main board and tested.. but same results!


can lcd panel faulty with out physical damage?

Yes, it is quite possible you have a bad tab bond.

thanks for so much help, but for info i was WATCHING TV(using as a monitor connected to my laptop thru VGA port, it was running smooth) n suddenly withOUT any physical contact or any thing, black part appeared from right to half and then full black and boom it was gone forever.

so the summary is it was working perfect and running smooth and next moment it was at fault!
what could be the culprit?

Usually the tab bond faults get worse progressively, but there have been reports of sudden failures due to tab bonds. I recommend you try and eliminate it. Also, can you post pictures of inside your TV? Perhaps there is another board that can cause this. Unlikely, though.
