Re: Sony Bravia KDL-52S4100 No picture or Sound
The TV should find the software if you've installed it at the USB drive's root. Did you format the drive? FAT32 for S4100's - not sure for your set, but I assume it's the same....

Re: Samsung LN52B750 Capacitors 52" LCD TV help
Panasonic FC, FM, and FR caps are recommended a lot here. There are quite a few other good brands. You can go up in voltage without any problem - I'd upgrade to at least 25V. The physical size of the larger voltage caps should be considered to ensure the replacement caps will fit.Last edited by capkid; 04-25-2015, 09:54 PM.

Re: Toshiba 42HP66 Plasma Voltage Help
Yes, I agree - I only replace one IPM at a time, also. However, the owner should expect that the second IPM can go at any time.

Re: Toshiba 42HP66 Plasma Voltage Help
Yes, it sounds like the YSus died; the IPM most likely is shot. Generally, it's recommended that both ZSus and YSus IPMs be replaced at the same time because of similar wear rates. If you're going to buy a used YSus, definitely go back to ShopJimmy to make a purchase to take advantage of the warranty protection they offer.
If you're adventurous...not an easy fix without a desoldering gun (e.g. Hakko 808): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8MNQYXw8E0Re: Toshiba 42HP66 Plasma Voltage He...it sounds like

Re: Toshiba 42HP66 Plasma Voltage Help
If your VS and VA voltages can be adjusted to spec, you may have issues with the YSus. BTW, the original ZSus probably has a blown IPM (large module under the heat sink).

A pic of the panel defect would also be helpful.

Re: New tool, Aoyue 8800! Desoldering just got easy!
If you don't ask, you don't get. There's no harm in asking. Why try fixing something that has already broken twice in such a short span? I'd either get a refund or cut my losses and buy a Hakko....Last edited by capkid; 04-20-2015, 01:40 PM.

Re: Sylvania LC320SS8 A turns on for a split second then black
I remember reading about this issue a few years ago when I purchased John Preher's repair guide: http://preher-tv.blogspot.com/2010/05/sylvania-ld320ss8-lcd-tv-repaired.htmlRe: Sylvania LC320SS8 A turns on for...red.html

Re: LG 50PV450 goes black after a few seconds
You can do other tests on the YSus, ZSus and PSU, but the main board is most likely faulty based on your symptom description. They are generally only repairable by the average DIY'er in rare instances (e.g. Vizio LCD voltage regulator replacement). It might be a long shot or not cost effective, but you can check with Modus Link about a repair: http://www.moduslinkptstvboards.comRe: LG 50PV450 goes black after a fe... likely faultyLast edited by capkid; 04-16-2015, 03:38 PM.

Re: LG 50PV450 goes black after a few seconds
If the cable box was damaged, the TVs main board may also be toast. You can try running test patterns to see if you get anything onscreen. To run test patterns:
(1) Unplug TV.
(2) Disconnect the LVDS cable that runs from the control board to the main board.
(3) Jumper locations labeled R51 and R52 on the control board with a paper clip.
(4) Plug in TV then turn on.
Service manual is here:...Last edited by capkid; 04-15-2015, 09:23 PM.

Re: Polaroid FLM-3701 no power/ standy light
It could be the angle of the pic, but it looks like you have quite a few blown caps on the left side of pic 2. I count 8 - possibly 9. I can't clearly see the cap closer to the top of the pic on the left side (E3). That would be the possible 9th blown cap.
I've attached a pic of two caps, just in case you're not sure. The cap on the left with the domed top is bad, while the cap on the right is visibly fine....Last edited by capkid; 04-14-2015, 09:41 PM.
