Oh by the way, I'm not sure if this was effectivepower but this is what I did with the old board. I connected 5v to the y board with my variable power supply. The board started Smoking from one of the zendiodes located near a power ic. It started smoking at 2 volts

All of the IC chips did not heat up or burn just that one zen diode

Have another Y-main on order. Seller refunded me my money. I hope this next board is not defective

A photo of the Zen Diode that smoked when I tested the Y-Buffer with 10-15V with my variable power suppply. The zen diode started smoking between 2- 4 volts...Upon applying power to the board, I immediatly noticed the current shoot up fast..clearly an indication of a short on the board.

Re: This guy has an RCA 42PA30RQ

I will see what I can do.

My board is defective though, when the Wii controller smashed into the working TV it shorted some panel electrodes together (which have alternating ~200V or 0V), which damaged two of the buffer ICs. I am now suspect of any buffer boards from broken TVs as they may have been damaged. Newer plasma panel uses very thin panel structure (<5mm), meaning shorts are more likely.

So I may have to limit my tests to around other components, I cannot supply measurements for those ICs.

I tested the new Y-Buffer board and there are no shorts. I also tested the old one and there were no shorts. I followed your video instructions. However, when I supplied voltage, the current draw was increasing fast and then the Zen Diode smoked.

I did replace the Y-Main and Y-Buffer and no fix. So I figure I recieved a defective Y-main and ordered up another one which I have not recieved yet. But I just replaced the control board and connected the ribbon cable to goes to the Y-main to see if the Vs and Va drops on the PSU after power up and it still does. without the ribbon connected the voltage is stable vs 207v Va 57v

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                            Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture

I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply

I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
