Hi it's been a while since I posted. I haven't messed with TVs for a while now since they became so inexpensive.
However, I just picked up this free 50", 3D LED smart TV that seems worth it. It's clean and has all its accessories included even 4 sets of 3D glasses.
He told me the TV died after a thunderstorm and other equipment in his house died at the same time.
I'm pretty sure it's the main board. I have 3.3v standby voltage and that's it. PWR ON is zero even when pressing the power button.
My question is: Is there any chance on...

FENDER STAGE 100 DSP - Short Circuit (solved)
I'm posting this because it seems like it maybe a common problem with this amp.
I've owned this amp for at least 7 years. Bought it used and loved it but it started shorting out randomly. You could give it a light tap and it would be okay for a bit.
I tried to fix it a couple years ago and resoldered the input jack thinking that was the issue but still the same problem.
I looked it over VERY carefully and couldn't find any bad solder joints and probing around with it on was tough because you could just barely touch the pcb ANYWHERE and it would kick...

Re: "Dick Smith" 55" LED backlight issue - model GE6880
Perhaps test every LED like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEJoPCa7Kt0
I'd even take it a step further and add the meter in the loop to measure current on each one. If they are all close to same spec then I think you could rule out LED strips being bad.Re: "Dick Smith" 55" LED backlight i...er and add the

Re: Samsung UE40D5520 Boot loop
Have you inspected the black wire connectors(looking for discoloration) from psu to main brd? I've read that these are fairly common.

Re: westinghouse DWM551Y1 no power
Can you upload pictures?
Did you test the voltages on the power supply(old and new)?
First thing I would check, is the STBY voltage correct. Then you can test the PSON lead to see if it changes when you hit power button.

Re: Vizio E550i-A0
I don't see any "buffer" boards available for this tv. Those are for plasma afaik. It looks like the LEDs are powered from the same power supply.
It sounds like your led strips($40) are going bad. However, without a picture of the problem it is hard to say for sure.

Re: Panasonic BluRay DMP-BD871 Freezes on hello display
Can you hear the disc spin up?
Maybe a firmware update will solve it:

Re: w2346t-bf LCD: Retrofit LED Strip Kit
After a few days using the monitor I'm going to chalk this up as a..... WIN!
I'll keep y'all posted on the dimming and anything else that pops up.
BONUS+++ I still have my old monitor with confirmed bad ccfl, and it's 22".

Re: w2346t-bf LCD: Retrofit LED Strip Kit
LMAO!! Yep me too. Working great for now.
I'm going to check it out side-by-side with my other monitor(24" AOC) and I will post results. Then I will take it back apart and see about dimming ctrl.
Thanks again!...

Re: w2346t-bf LCD: Retrofit LED Strip Kit
Ahh crap, I didn't think to get that and it's assembled and being used by me right now. doh! I guess I will take her back apart. I NEED dim this thing some lol!
What the typical dim procedure on the ones you have used?
Thanks...Last edited by martyparish; 03-18-2016, 08:56 AM.

Re: w2346t-bf LCD: Retrofit LED Strip Kit
Stj, forgot to say thanks for the color temp hint. I hadn't messed with it yet hopefully it'll help.
And also thanks for letting me know that the plastic reflector is OK! I DID make sure to get them perfectly perpendicular in there.
ReeceyBurger123, thanks for the comments! Unfortunately, I did NOT mount them to the metal frame. I put them inside the plastic j-channel shape reflector that the ccfl was in. I left them running for ~10 minutes and checked heat and it wasn't bad so I rolled with it. Plus I already had...

Re: w2346t-bf LCD: Retrofit LED Strip Kit
vinceroger69, not sure to be honest,as I haven't see the insides of an edge-lit LED monitor. It seems to be diffusing okay tho. Except very small shaded areas in corners.(I expected this since the LED strips were about 1/2" short on each end)
stj, Yes! I have seen on the boards that you advocate this conversionOnly, I haven't been able to find many posts on the subject. (especially in-depth ones)
Yes, good idea on the part #s. Here's the IC controller datasheet:
I'll try to figure...

w2346t-bf LCD: Retrofit LED Strip Kit
I picked this up from the recycle center. I figured out it had a bad ccfl by hooking up another back light I had sitting around(my old monitor).
Obviously replacing the CCFl isn't a very economic choice plus I figured my chances of getting a new one in w/o breaking it were also slim lol!
I bought one of these Chinese LED retrofit LED kits(pic attached):

After waiting the obligatory 30+ days for China Post shipment, I finally installed it. I removed the inverter transformer, mosfet and controller...

Re: LG42lg50 UG power on and off
Actually it looks like it could be an issue with the PS3. See here

ton of info here

Re: LG42lg50 UG power on and off
Does it atually "shut down" or is it just losing the signal? If it's flashing "no signal" it is not shut down.
Have you tried other input sources? (other hdmi port, rgb, coax)
Let's see a pic of the whole backside of the TV please.
IMO this sounds like it could be a main board issue.

Re: LG Plasma 60PN6500-UA Main Board
Nice job too bad it didn't work... mmartell is probably right about the processor.
It was certainly worth a shot! I guess you'll have to stay on the hunt for the replacement board. You planning on keeping the 60? THat's a big boy!
