Re: This guy has an RCA 42PA30RQ

If the Ve voltage is low or missing disconnect the power supply cable from the X board. If the Ve voltage rises the X board is probably shorted. If the voltage stays low the SMPS board needs to be replaced. If the Vs voltage is low or missing it can be caused by a defective X or Y board. Check both boards for short circuits before replacing the SMPS board. If the Vs voltage is too high an effect called diffusion may occur. Diffusion is when the initialize voltage is too high. Excessive voltage causes unwanted pixel firing creating intermittent sub-pixel flashes. Power on-off cycling can be caused by a shorted component on the Logic board loading down the standby 5V.

That text is from the manual I downloaded. However my TV doesn't state what the VE voltage should be. It only has Va and Vs and Vsc

Tom do you know to use ESR meter to locate a short to ground on the curcuit trace?

Hmm, 64V may be OK, seems a little low, but you should still get a picture.

There is possibly a Ve short then.

It should be here on the 15th. In the mean time ill be doing more learning and research on how to fix electronics such as LCD and plasma TV's

I just discovered something interesting.. When I connected the ribbon cable that goes from the logic board to the Y-main, My Va and Vs and Ve drop just after power up. When I disconnect the ribbon cable and power up the TV, My Vs Va are stable

This seems to indicate something on the Y-main is forcing the control board to shut the TV off.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. πŸ˜…

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started β€˜fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly β€˜new' Tcon board this time, and

I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
