Re: Dell E5420 dead
Hello, I am trying to clear a bios Admin password. So far none of the programs I have found online have given me a correct master password. I have read some articles saying you can clear the eeprom chip where the password is stored but I have been unable to determine which chip is the correct one. The picture that was uploaded before shows a 16 Mb and a 32 Mb chip but they said the bios was on a 4 Mb chip. The only other memory chip I have found is an 8 Mb chip elsewhere on the mobo but I don't want to proceed until I'm sure I wont brick the laptop. If anyone can help me figure this out i would greatly appreciate it.

Re: Dell E5420 dead
Hello all ,
hoping someone can possibly help out with an ongoing problem I've had and cannot find a fix for. I have a E5420 and have the bios Locked and unfortunately its one with the 1d3b which as far as I can tell there's no tool to generate a code for it actual service tag (CSP5CT1-1D3B). My next move was to find the eeprom and short it during boot as a suggested video spoke of . After a great deal of searching the only chip i was able to find was an 8mbit ATMEL eeprom AT45DB081D-SU954 from what I've read so far I've found no mention of this chip used on this MB and some mention of multiple chips. My line of thinking when trying to find this eeprom was to unsolder use programmer to backup and with a replacement chip as more backup try and program old or new chip with new image . A few issues i've had are first not sure if I've found the actual chip that holds the password data two the only replacement i'm really able to find is actually the same chip but a 16mbit version and therefore not sure if this will work same pinouts just 16 meg instead of 8? hopefully someone has gone down this route and might be able to help.? I can get some pics if need be . Also one last thing this chip was ironically right under the keyboard and has a little cutout in the plastic so there's direct access to it by just removing the keyboard thats why im fairly certain this is the chip in question though it is possible I may have missed another . If anyone has any thing they might be able to add that would help Id be very greatfull.
Thanks in advance
