how are you doing.
recently i got hp dx2400 with IPIBL-LB (inter g33 ich7raid, 4mem slots) motherboard inside and 8gb of ram.
it came with e5200 and wanted to upgrade it to latest and greatest.
board spec (https://support.hp.com/rs-en/document/c01324212)
upgraded bios to the latest, updated inter RST module, RTL boot module and cpu microcode to support xeon 771 cpus (reported to even run x5460)
i have ordered e5450 but seller (mistakenly) sent L5240 (2 cores 3ghz) and it works (running esxi server 24/7 no problems)

in newer versions of bios (uefi) most of DMI data is compressed. individual modules can be extracted / replaced with UEFITool (not all versions support replacing modules, you will have to do some research)

if you have spare broken laptop motherboard find similar size inductor, ideally with same marking (100) or as close as you can find...
solder and test to see if there are any changes
if you see the improvement, then it makes sense to try to source original part or leave it as is.

version 30811 (filename k7s5a030811.exe) did not boot on my board with ddr so i used 37558 instead (filename k7s5a021029tsd.exe or k7s5a021029.exe)

check lenovo support. sometimes thay have iso to download and burn, put cd in drive and it will recover bios for you.
it might not be available for every model but it is for most of them.
google a bit on how to start recovery.. sometimes its a jumper, other times to hold a button on keyboard while turnin on pcLeave a comment:

sorry for resurecting old thread but i had same problem as @momaka with his board, not posting with DDR memory
latest version of bios does not work with some revisions of motherboard!

always make sure that you are using latest bios on VIA chipset based motherboards

try withot hard drive and optical drive
try checking capacitors and coild around PS/2 ports
try usb keyboard
you still have a possibility of problem with bios

also kindly consider eeprom reprograming

hm, thank you for kindly sharing your methond... very usefull
anyway, i intended to cover other brands with tutorials (toshiba, acer, hp is very nasty, sometimes bios from web update are encrypted and i found 3 differen methods that work)
but stuff in life happened and im not in industry anymore, although im keeping an eye on forum
it has grown on me
