Dell Pro 13 Plus PB13250 Bios Unlock

    Hi,

Could someone help trying to unlock this BIOS, seems that Dell have changed the layout of new Dell Pro 8FC8 bioses from checking HXD - 4000 bits do not need changing, only 2000. However after FF the section starting from '01000' upto 2000 bits and then soldering the chip back it seems that the microchip on the motherboard is recovering the bios back to original settings after first boot. Has anyone found a way to crack this extra layer of security Dell have implemented? Seems both HP and Dell have upped bios security to match Lenovo by implementing extra measures on a separate IO chip which hasn't been cracked.... just yet anyway.

I have attached both the original file and the modified variant that I made which still didn't work. SMDFlea have you got any ideas? If I were to post a bios of another pro 13 plus with the password on and one without the password enabled on the same laptop would that help?

Unfortunately it is still asking for the password in bios. The asset tag and ownership date have cleared though, I wonder if the password is stored on the MEC chip next to the bios chip.

          Hello,
Have you been able to unlock the bios?
I have seen there is ebay seller that is selling unlocked bios chips.
Does this means that we can clear the password with only Programming the bios chip?

                        Hello Everyone,
I hope someone can help me to resolve the problem.
Has anyone got experience with new generation of Dell laptops please ?

I am working on Dell Pro 13 Plus PB13250 where client forgot the passwords.
Up to now in all Dell laptops I was able to locate the area in BIOS chip.
It looks like design has been changed now.
Has password been moved to MEC chip please ?
I hope someone with more experience can help.
                        Thanking you in advance.
                        Regards,
                        Rafal

Bios File Is Attached. I believe password is stored in MEC IC (not in BIOS IC).

                        Hi,
This is model with single BIOS chip. There is no second BIOS chip for EC.
EC can't be simply read and saved like from other SIO chips using keyboard socket.
Keyboard connection will not allow me to read and save file from this EC (MEC5407-LJ).

Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...

I have a Dell XPS-15 (9520) with the LA-L402P motherboard. It seems to have bricked itself after a common BIOS-Firmware upgrade. Now, it just shows BIOS screen for a few seconds before turning-itself back Off (and doesn't seem to be fully Posting). I've done these many times before with no problems.

I was hoping to please have my own-thread to work-through this (hopefully successful) repair as a whole. Apart from the possible need to have a BIOS-dump fixed-up, I have a feeling I'm going to have other questions. This includes using my new XGecu-T76 for the first time (should be here...

                          by TopPop
Sorry for the long story. I have a Dell Latitude 5530 (i7) laptop (South Peak 15 MLK MB DDR4 203102-1 FK8VG$JA) with an admin BIOS password that I want to remove. Service Tag: HYKFPT3. Other than that the laptop worked OK.

I found a CH341A Black and went looking for the BIOS chip on the motherboard. After trying to read one chip that was a firmware chip but not the BIOS I think I found the BIOS chip labeled Winbond 25Q256JVEN. Altogether I think I found 4 different firmware chips in the laptop. The BIOS chip is a WSON8 6x8. I used the CH341A, NeoProgrammer, and a cheap pogo pin clip...
