Works perfect. Thanks heaps!!😁
I have a job lot of these which all had faulty SSD chips, so now to take care of that problem, but they also may or may not have BIOS passwords. In case I run into this issue again, I would be interested to know exactly what edits you make to the bin file to clear the password. I'm assuming it's done in a Hex editor like HxD, but I couldn't figure it out. I did find a few references to the System Password, but modifying those just caused it to power up for about 2 seconds and shut off.

Well, I can't believe I'm back after all these years (long story). But anyway. I'm also now in need of a Surface Pro 5 BIOS Password to be removed. I've tried it unsucessfully myself a few times, so hopefully someone with a bit more BIOS Modding experience can help. The device in question is a Surface Pro 5 1807 (LTE Variant), with the Motherboard 1011229-019 Rev 4.3 and Serial No 024774482153....

Re: Help with ASUS K8V SE Deluxe
For the handful of AM3 system's I've built, I used MSI boards in all of them, and not one has a cooked VRM. In fact, the VRMs don't even get that hot in them. Based on my experience, I'll happily take MSI over Asus....

Re: Reballing Toshiba L500D
Nah, that was with the stock BIOS and a Pentium T4200 CPU. You don't need to update the BIOS to run 7 at all.

We just sold one for $200 (AUD) at work recently, although we upgraded it to windows 7 (with a proper COA and the like).
If you sell it running Vista? Zip. You can't even give a vista or XP machine away here. Funnily enough, I've never actually had a Tokin cap failure on an L300 before. We sold quite a few back in the day, and they have been a very reliable laptop.Last edited by c_hegge; 09-17-2015, 08:45 PM.

Re: HD 2000 vs Ati HD 6450 for Flash player!

No. The amount of memory on the graphics card has no impact on performance (at least not once you get above about 128MB). It's all down to the GPU.

The Intel HD graphics is much more powerful than a 6450, and is about the same as a GF 620.Re: HD 2000 vs Ati HD 6450 for Flash...el HD graphics

Mouser are fine

Those are about the only electrolytic caps I could find there which I know would work
You could also poly-mod your board using these:

Re: Help with ASUS K8V SE Deluxe
Their early s478 and earlier boards were pretty decent, but they completely dropped the ball when s775 came out. Even their premium boards have ben junk since then. I class them as being about on par with ECS nowadays (ie, they are to motherboards what Codegen and Deer are to PSUs and what Fuhjyyu and Sacon are to caps)....
