    Re: Laptop battery charging circuit

what about the battery that was long without charging and it's dead now? i open the battery, charge it from external PS, and how to get it to work again, since the managment chip is probably not turning the output...

i did that multiple times, and it never works...just yesterday, i charged it from external PS,and it's now charged, i plug it in and it doesn't recognize it, it starts to charge for few seconds and that's that...

Controller inside the battery is becoming locked if the cells were deeply discharged, so even if you charge the cells you need to reset the controller. It can be done with different ways, there are hardware and software tools like NLBA, be2works, etc....

Thank You for a great research!
One question to: AC adapter not detected, wrong AC adapter
what is AD_ID voltages for HP, Lenovo and other resistive dividers. (Dell has one-wire bus for it). If that ID voltages are model dependant, some examples please.
          Konstantin.

My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

The MT3608 is a constant frequency, 6-pin SOT23 current mode step-up converter intended for small, low power applications. The MT3608 switches at 1.2MHz and allows the use of tiny, low cost capacitors and inductors 2mm or less in height.

Internal soft-start results in small inrush current and extends battery life.

The MT3608 features automatic shifting to pulse frequency modulation mode at light loads. The MT3608 includes under-voltage lockout, current limiting, and thermal overload protection to prevent damage in the event of an output overload. The MT3608 is available...

                                            Hello, guys!
Got this 8-pin MOSFET (I presume) on the motherboard that I'm still trying to repair (HP Stream 11-ah117wm DAY0HGMB6C1 REV:C), close to the DC IN connector, and when I read voltage on Drain (5-8 pins) and Source (1-3 pins), I got the 19.81 VDC of the DC IN on each, but on the Gate (pin 4) it's 25 VDC. Is it normal? Now, I'm not quite sure the component is a MOSFET, but it looks like, and since it has the printed code on it totally unreadable, I can't try to find the datasheet. Can anyone give me a hand on this? Or maybe ff there's some MOSFET tutorial or something that you can...

Put it all back together and didn't see a change on the reported battery voltage. Although, I did run the quick battery diagnostic...
