Sorry for the misunderstanding about serial cable. Yes it is the 50 pin cable.
Measurements will címe soon......

The serial cable is held ín place by a secure clip that is loosen somehow(probably dropped the laptop) and the cable slipped out of the connector. Therefore the 3 pins that provide 5v on the side is shorted to ground.
I would live with only usb 3.0 working. But what about the wifi card?...Last edited by questore; Today, 01:42 AM.

I think you are on to something. its always nice to learn something
USB 2.0 pendrives are not working only USB 3.0
First USB-s have 0.712 on D+ and 0.695 on D-
Second USB have OL on both.
What could be the issue?...

Armani13 5370 vostro 5370 strange issues
Hi everyone, thanks for your time to look at a my problem.
This type has a secondary IO board that has WIFI card slot, 2 USB port, microSD reader and the power button.
The problem started when laptop serial cable slided out the slot and therefore it shorted 5v to ground.
Secondary board connector is melted, cable is toast so I have replaced them and since 5V generator chip got partialy shorted i replaced it too "PU8900"
Now laptop starts and system seeing USB pendrive, windows installs fine and works fine, no unkown devices or anything after drivers installation...

S5 should be 3V, where did you measured it?
Because of the BIOS pin 8# should be directly connected to 3V_S5

I think since RTC 3V is generated directly from the battery and you have no battery connected, that is why its not turning on.
Did it every turned on without battery?? If not then.try getting a battery and turning it on....

- Open the file with boardviewer.
- On the pins search field type these, and after selected from the list go to the "Net" tab on the right to see what points are connected on the board.
Then try to find a clear point that you can measure with multimeter in DC Voltage mode. Try not to touch other things around.
- RTC_RST#
- RSMRST#...

someone correct me if im wrong but I think this modell does not have an individual CMOS battery and 3V RTC is generated from the battery itself.
That is why it wont boot up without a battery present. Charging blink usually means there is a power rail problem somewhere.
Did it worked without battery before it died?...

Tryed your suggestion to read right the first time when pluggin charger and the reading progress bar was very slow but gone till the end, the full reading was empty "FF"
Either something was erased the EC and it cannot be reprogrammed anymore or it is dead.
Also tryed to write with the sam method but since it erases before write, it never got to writing since after erase it lost contact.
Also strange that whenever i got a EC ID that seems corrupt: 8CFF rev -> FF
I think it time to order a new EC...Last edited by questore; 05-07-2025, 07:32 AM.

Hmmm might be a good idea to not check the connection but to directly read the EC at first time.
Number 5 on the list is not an option in here since power button is in the keyboard and I'm using keyboard connector to flash but on other modells might be good idea thank you....

I just had a very strange matrix feeling.
A NM-D711 come to me with a very very similar problem. its EC only answers once when I plug it in and never more. it also has BIOS 3.3v on pin #8 even when it is not turned on.
If I order a new IC what are the chance that I will be able to programm it if its empty?

No change.
Still very stange that two original charger is saying EC ID is wrong when connecting and power supply with the same connector is answering at first correctly.
Of course i have checked the power voltage and the two chargers connector is good.
Also what I have noticed that when I plug any charger the BIOS pin 8 has 1.8V even when the laptop is off.
could this mean that the EC firmware is corrupted?...Last edited by questore; 05-04-2025, 10:59 AM.

Thanks you for the típus.
Im using clip, but verifilying always after write. Never has any problem with clips.
I Will try to wait 2 minutes after flash but since power consumpson stays exactly 0.620 I have stopper. Alsó tryed with onboard rám only but same...

Correct, but it acts differently, nevertheless EC cannot be read somehow....

NM-C511 not posting after BIOS update
Hi everyone,
Someone come to me after his lenovo has made a BIOS update and after never posting.
Board is:
NM-C511 rev 1.0
ideapad_s145-15api (Type 81UT)
S/N: PF1WZ2L8
After full removing AC and battery and cmos battery and pressing power button for 30sec the laptop turns on and every LED and power rail comes fine,
CPU is very mildly warming up but reaction to buttons and no display.
Tryed to reflash bios suggested on this forum but nothing changed.
Tryed to reprogram the EC with vertyanov programmer but the following happens....
No activity results to display
