Hello, i replace the capacitor in a toshiba a305 and everything seems ok but when you power the laptop the power led is blinking orange and white. The cpu is working and the screen flashes then it goes off, like its detecting some voltage is wrong or something. I use the mini pci diagnostic card, i can see its reading so the cpu and board is ok, Anyone had this problem before?

Re: After replacing nec/tokin capacitor orange light blinking
Oddly enough - I have exactly the same problem on an L300 board I replaced the Tokin cap on. Flashes between green and orange and then shuts off. I'd love to know what's causing this since I can't see how a vCore cap replacement can interfere with a RAM slot.Dell E7450 | i5-5300U | 16GB DDR3 | 256GB SSDComment

Re: After replacing nec/tokin capacitor orange light blinking
Possible, but I don't desolder the original cap - but instead crush it and solder the tantalums over the contacts. So not much heat exposure. Also I think that RAM slot worked initially and then stopped a few days later.
I read somewhere that it's Toshiba's code for one of the power controllers having detected a short circuit. But surely if that was the case, it would just refuse to boot?Dell E7450 | i5-5300U | 16GB DDR3 | 256GB SSDComment

Hah, well blow me down - same here, same fault, swapped memory to the other slot and away it went all working fine.
So, what's the cause of this?
I was about to just toss this one in the bin ( L300 ) because I figured it wasn't worth spending more time on it - and I was lucky enough to see the title of this thread.YouTube Repair Videos - https://www.youtube.com/user/19PLD73

Re: After replacing nec/tokin capacitor orange light blinking
Now that there's three of us maybe we could make some decent headway on figuring out the problem.
I'll take a look at some point soon but my multimeter is fudged right now! I have lots of L300 boards to compare resistance too luckily.Dell E7450 | i5-5300U | 16GB DDR3 | 256GB SSDComment

Okay guys, obviously we will have different versions of boards etc, but I think pages 26-28 on this diagram are where we need to be looking. If you can grab schematics for your own models I imagine you'll find they're fairly similar.
My guess is a shorted cap on the +1.8v line somewhere perhaps? Maybe start by checking voltages are present there? Though IIRC these are the horrid tiny tiny little caps so it could be an interesting task.Dell E7450 | i5-5300U | 16GB DDR3 | 256GB SSDComment

Re: After replacing nec/tokin capacitor orange light blinking
First thing to do is figure out which of your slots has failed. Lines beginning with "MA_" appear to correspond to slot A. Lines beginning with "MB_" appear to correspond to slot B.
Should be interesting to see if we all have the same failed slot.Dell E7450 | i5-5300U | 16GB DDR3 | 256GB SSDComment

Re: After replacing nec/tokin capacitor orange light blinking
Apologies for triple post, I have an update.
1) I've compared the resistances of each slot's key pins (V1.8 etc etc) and found no differences.
2) Both 1.8v and 0.9v voltages are present regardless of whether there is a stick in the failed slot (for me, it is the topmost slot, slot B)
3) The flashing does not occur when no CPU is present. So presumably, the powergood signal is involved somewhere?
4) +3VS on pin 200 reads at 1.6v when no DIMM is present. I cannot read it when a DIMM Is present but if I boot it with one, and then without one, it briefly appears at +3.2v before dropping to +1.6v. (note, DIMM A does not have +3VS on pin 200)
5) VREF when read at pin 1 is always at 0.87v at both slots, regardless of the slot configuration.Last edited by spleenharvester; 10-25-2013, 11:10 AM.Dell E7450 | i5-5300U | 16GB DDR3 | 256GB SSDComment

Re: After replacing nec/tokin capacitor orange light blinking
i also checked the voltages i can't find anything, seems all the voltages are there. the interessting thing is, the laptop is working the post is running its detecting the memory, you can see the screen flashing, like it wants to come on but then the orange light is shutting it down, but the system itself is working, maybe its a false alarm like some signal is not getting through. Should we try and update the bios here?Comment

by mosfetratusWhen i fully shut off mac, orange light goes off and wont react to power button. I have difficult time resetting with combination "shift+control+option and power button", because it rarely works (reason unknown), when i manage to get orange light and then press power button macbook wont turn on and orange light goes off. When i hold combination with power button it turns on, and works fine if put it to sleep mode.
Works with battery and charges, but when i shut off i get this problem.
It had liquid spill. Board has no corrosion, keyboard is working, power button... -

by TomyleeHi everyone, I have a Nintendo 2DS XL that shows the orange charging light when plugged in, but nothing happens when I press the power button — no blue light, no screen, no sound.
Here's what I've observed:
All ribbon cables are properly connected
Battery is present and in good condition
No reaction even with screens disconnected
There's a visible burn mark / overheating sign on the metal shield, right above the CPU
I’m suspecting an issue with the CPU, PMIC, NAND, or a power...3 Photos -
by jheunnei have macbook a1466 board id 820-00165 with power fan spin green to orange light not booting no image or light i tried to fix its leak chip number U1930 but sad it has been damage due of corrosion here i attach the image of board. possible there is a jumper ways for it can't find parts for it to buy.
in first image there is 0v out for lcd

by RezendesHello, I have a MacBook 820-3115-B board that never shows an Orange light and goes straight to a green light and turns itself on when the ac adapter is plugged in. System won’t run off battery and turns off immediately when ac power unplugged. I believe the battery should be ok as it was a replacement not too long ago but it’s possible that’s the issue as most anything is possible I guess. I don’t have any spare batteries or donor boards although I have ordered 2 on the way. I have replaced U7000 and same results. I have also applied flux and reflowed the SMC IC and no change. Nothing...
