Yep, just about every Sacon cap is domed. Trash!

Re: Destroyed by Sacon
I probably would have tossed it too. Unless I'm doing it for a customer, I only re-cap stuff which I can get something worthwhile on fleabay for. Unfortunately, you'd be lucky to get $10 for a Socket 478 board.I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!
No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

Re: Destroyed by Sacon
Not just a S478 board - a S478 board with ISA slots
First eBay hit from a Google search for SY-P4I845PEISA is $487-72 b.i.n. for a "refurbished" boardbetter to keep quiet and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubtComment

Re: Destroyed by Sacon
thats the extreme high end price that will likely never sell .
but its well worth fixing.not too common any more.
wish i would have caught him before he tossed it.i would have paid the postage to get it.
i occasionally need this type of board.Comment

Re: Destroyed by Sacon
Damn. I figured no one would have wanted it! I would have gladly shipped it to you. If I see any more come in I will try and snag itComment

by momakaSo after using capacitor bungs to repair the rubber feet on two laptops, shown here:
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...&postcount=548
… and here:
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...&postcount=585
… I was inevitably left with some paper rolls and cans from the Sacon FZ capacitors I “sacrificed”.
The paper rolls from these Sacon FZ caps looked absolutely bone-dry. The idea then occurred to me: what if I put a few drops of water on there? How (if at all) would that affect these already-failed capacitors?...-

by JunkrepairI'm finally recapping my Soyo K7VX6 motherboard (aka KT600 Dragon Ultra) and replacing Sacon SZ-series caps. The Sacon SZ datasheet provides a spec for tan delta, but not for ESR, while the candidate replacement caps are specified in terms of ESR.
I found this nice little description of the conversion:
Calculating capacitor ESR from Tan(delta)
https://forum.digikey.com/t/calculat...-from-tan/2633
It mentions that a general spec for tan delta has to be adjusted for the specific capacitance before plugging tan delta into the formula...-

by LaPCon_ITHi people.
iMac A2438, board 820-02009-06. Some insect has killed itself destroying capacitor and coil next to it. No chance for buying donor board, so I'm asking you for help about values of destroyed components.1 Photo -
by Bubbsy 2002Hi all, I am on a 100% diagnostic spree and need some more assistance.
I have looked at the board of this poor light and it appears I have an fuse/resistor combo.
I have isolated what I believe are RV1 (destroyed by the surge) and you can see RV2, so I am assuming they are same or similar.
Can you tell me what the name of the component, amperage/resistance, so I can order from DigiKey?
And now I noticed the light went up $10 Canadian, to $46.
Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.... - Loading...
