Re: WGM2792 Arcade Monitor Resistor Burn Off On Neck Board *Need Help*

Update, The resistor I soldered back in desoldered it self and came out again. grrr. Something is definitely making that resistors joints heat up to the point its falling out. Any and all help appreciated.

Picture of the bottom side of the board? You should also remove the black stuff and the glue off the board so we can see the Green paint lines on the top side of the board.

r242, then looking at the schematic,
            check d208, q211, q212 for shorts.

also, check the resistance of r215, and r267 in the heater circuit.

That resistor is for the blue crt drive, even with it out you should get a picture, just missing blue. so I suspect once this fault is found there will be another

r242 is measuring 1.333k, d208 test good, q211 looks good to me, its npn right? E C B is what sheet i found said.

                    r215 reads 2.5 ohms (i think its marked 2), and r267 reads 1.1 ohm.
Interestingly, i accidently wrote q201 down instead of q211 at first, i tested it pulled and got readings everywhere, looks bad. 201 and 211 are c35502e resistors. I am going to take pics of the board with glue off as Budm requested too... Hope this gives you more insight

Here Are pics of the front and back of the board, I removed the glue and black junk around r242... I have a few transistors unsoldered and a resistors with a leg pulled out...

                        so q212?

q206 has broken solder joints, the narrow chip needs completely resoldering,
the resistor that fell out needs re-soldering.
by resoldering i mean remove the old solder first.

Oh left that out, q212 looked ok as far as I can tell too. About .658 B2E / B2C and open E2B and C2B

Yes, You are correct about q206, I am aware of the joints at that Transistor/sink. I believe it from recent handling and checking parts for solid mounting. And I know the Resistor needs re-soldering as well, I will make sure to remove the old first. I am afraid the trace on one end of r242 is trying to pull away from the board as well.
I would rather try to figure out the issue before making all the final connections. Wouldn't this be a good idea?

Would having a shorted q201 cause r242 to heat up? thx

I went ahead and pulled the Big board out too. If I cant get it, I am going to send the boards out to be repaired. Here are front/back pics if it helps anything

can you meter the pins on the back of the tube,
                                  all combinations.

                                  most will show nothing.
what we are looking for is if the gun related to that resistor is shorted to something else - such as the heater!

I checked. Any pins that show a reading together are in the Mega ohms, accept Pins 1 & 3 together, I get 1.1ohm. is this significant?

1-3 is the heater, so that's all good.

                                        check q215, q220, d209 and sg204 < specially this.

I meant to say pins 1&6 are about 1.1 ohm, is this still ok?

I tested all the components you asked, all tested good.
